StrawberryBlond 15,564
At the end of the day, if this is what makes her happy and makes her money, why should we judge her for it? Labels basically encourage their artists to make TikTok friendly music these days anyway. Meghan's music is all about fun and TikTok's inception supports this concept, so why not run with it? Not all music needs to be super serious and artsy, it can be happy and silly and there's a market for everything. A lot of her recent music especially is catchy and makes me happy. Whether it's popular on TikTok or not is irrelevant, as long as it connects somewhere and if that somewhere is TikTok, why does that make it any less meaningful? No one @ me with Ari's tweet saying "play it again"Ā Nah songsĀ are expensive to make. They wonāt waste money to make a 1-minute track. What weāre seeing is more of hook stuffing so thereās more shots at *something from the song catching on. I think things will trend towards 3-3.5 minutes again but be chock full of hooks ala early Gaga. Look at a song like Alejandro or telephone. Longer, sure, but their verses are SHORT and the hooks are repeated like 20-30 times lmao. And they became iconic for it. I think thatās the blueprint after an extended period of fairly hook-lite music. Even look at Renaissance where a lot of the songs are longish. VERY hook-heavy tracks. Itās something that was p popular in the 90s especially with hip hop and I think weāre heading that way again but even those songs were about 3.5 or longer. Granted that was to appeal to radio, but appealing to streaming is honestly not *that different tbh
