Both albums have their up and downs but Hold On, To Be Loved and Love Is A Game are easily some of Adele’s best songs EVER.

Renaissance is the worst album I listened to this year, couldn’t make it past 6 tracks. 30 is safe but decent.

This “insider” is just bitter because they know 30 is winning :billie:

Meat I love you, but 30 isn't winning. Would I love to wstch the behives' meltdowns? Yes I would, but Adele is NOT winning over Beyoncé.

You guys don’t need to say Renaissance is bad to sound edgy, the album is amazing and if Gaga released something remotely similar, we would be praising her to the heavens

Renaissance will win this year just so that Grammys can get a nice story that compares this year to the time Adele won over B for 25 and broke her grammy

If Lemonade, with its humongous cultural impact and acclaim couldn’t win AOTY then Renaissance most certainly won’t either. People are underestimating Adele because she is underperforming compared to her own standards but you have to remember that it’s still the most successful female album of the year. Not to mention she just won 5/5 of the Emmys she was nominated for. Old white voters love her more than anyone else.

Damn, reading the opinions of LMs here, really puts into perspective how I've drifted away from the fandom, and I'm glad so.

Renaissance is miles ahead of 30 and Lemonade in terms of music impact. If I remember correctly 25 was awarded exactly for this, it was just good music. Lemonade's undeniable cultural impact was overlooked back then. RENAISSANCE definitely doesn't have it but the impeccable execution and precision on the music, flow and everything... It's my favourite album of the year next to Lykke Li's EYEYE. So I hope this time Bey wins AOTY, she deserves it. Adele's 30 is good but it's more of the same and sometimes even less. It has good songs and excellent songwriting but it doesn't hit as hard. I think 2021 was the year when both Adele and Ed failed to deliver their best work and that's fine.

The whole RENAISSANCE slander here got me thinking which Gaga album exactly is able to match this precision and focus, apart from TFM? Maybe a distant second would be Chromatica cause it's engineered in an excellent way but it has its duds. So yeah, I understand some people were disappointed about the lack of visuals but the music suffices (which was a major critique back at the time of ST and Lemonade, people were saying she's hiding the weak music behind the visuals, and now that she doesn't have visuals, she's boring. Anything to criticise her, I guess.)

Well it was written by 400 people. 30 is actually written by the artist.

Y'all LOVE this empty 'argument' lmaooo

We've known Beyonce has a big team behind her for years, why does it need to be brought up every time her work is mentioned? Her work is still great regardless of how many people contribute to it. No one has ever said that an artist needs to do everything on their own to produce good art. ROM has like 8 writers and 3 or 4 producers, SFA has over 10 writers and over 5 producers, even Venus has 6 writers, yet I don't see anyone dragging them for not being solely written by Gaga herself (and/or the feature) lol. We're judging the body of work itself, not how many people worked on it. Yeah sure it's impressive when an artist does all the work on their own album and I appreciate that, but going around and acting like an album does not deserve praise or accolades because it has a large team behind it is laughable.

Not to mention that Renaissance has a huge list of credits (bigger than Bey's previous work) because it heavily borrows samples, which requires credits. And before anyone brings that up as a bad thing, it absolutely isn't and you'd have to be completely oblivious about music to think that.

That is what I precisely believe separates people like Taylor Adele and Gaga from people like Beyoncé and Britney

I enjoyed some songs on 30, but I enjoyed Renaissance more. There are still some highlights in 30, like To Be Loved, Oh My God and I Drink Wine.

Honestly, I dont know what else can Beyonce do to get AOTY. Anyway, we know how the Grammys work... If Beyonce does not win this time, I feel they will lose credibility.

Imo Renaissance is definitely not AOTY though
