I'm sorry, but I vehemently disagree with this. Would it be nice if every single queer celebrity came out and owned their identity? Sure. But just because you're a public figure doesn't mean that you should feel obligated to come out. Coming out is such a difficult decision to do. We, as queer people, know that. Now imagine coming out to not only friends and family, but to the whole world.

I understand wanting queer celebrities to come out because it normalizes queer identities, but not every celebrity is going to be a spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ community. Some people want to keep it private and we should respect that. Everyone's on their own journey and if they want to, they'll come out eventually.

Idk, but it just seems really backwards for me to think that by progressing LGBTQ+ rights and normalizing it, we first must want celebrities to disclose their sexualities.

I believe public figures with queer identities should be open about them to increase visibility and normalize queerness. They should absolutely come out on their own terms and I also acknowledge and defend a persons right to remain publicly closeted, I just don’t respect that decision.

Embarrassing :bradley: why are some gays so obssesed with other people's sexual orientations? Like haven't they learned from their own experiences?

This is why I'm so against all that queerbaiting sh*t. Let people express themselves and be who they are. Your standards are not the rule.

Hmm, now where have I seen keyboard warriors doing the exact same thing to other celebrities? I believe it was a forum dedicated to a female popstar. Does that ring a bell to anyone?

Proud of him for standing up for himself, but I’m so sorry to hear his public coming out had to be under these circumstances. Please let’s let this be a learning experience for all of those who want to pressure celebrities about their identities. On the minuscule chance that Kit sees this comment I hope he can feel the warm hug I’m sending him and the support that he and all young queer people deserve in their coming out experiences. Sometimes people either forget or just flat out don’t know how difficult coming out can feel even in the best of circumstances, and being in the public eye has to only amplify the emotions attached to it. Wishing him nothing but love and support.

Bisexuality is only ever truly acknowledged when the person dates within the same sex, and it's disgusting.

Sorry for him but at the end of the day, as a celebrity you have to learn to ignore social media and make peace with it, that comes with the job sadly.

Bonkers

If y'all concerned about his privacy, why are you gossiping about him?

He was forced out, and he didn't want to be.  So let's start a thread and everybody talk about it.  Just want someone wants when they didn't want to be outed.

I think this is an important time for us all to reflect on our behaviours and the impacts they can have, especially when communicating online. This should not have happened to Kit, or anyone else for that matter. I feel like it's important this issue is raised because it's clear that this **** is still happening and it's not being addressed enough

people need to stop saying that people can queer bait, that doesn't exist. People are allowed not to disclose their sexual orientation.

Isn't it interesting how all the folks who are normally chomping at the bit to get their two cents in on "queerbaiting" don't seem to be in this thread? Where are all the essays about how the rest of us are duped by marketing? Lots of us were talked to down to, accused of being unethical, and got LMAO reactions when we tried to explain (over and over again in great detail) why these accusations are nothing more than foolishness and cynical ploys for clout. And yet, here we are, and we get nothing but *crickets*.

Just goes to show how truly pathetic and shallow some folks are.

Better Day

The fact Charlie in Heartstopper was forced to come out at 14 years old that eventually lead to him having serious mental health issues throughout his life, these Heartstopper “fans” have literally hounded the poor boy out of the closet like the ‘fans’ have hounded Bash and Joe as well for months. I suggest people just delete Twitter, it’s going to get a lot worse because this is what “freedom of speech” crusaders want.

There is a difference between a 18 yo guy who doesn't want to discuss it and get forced to and an adult who does discuss it openly since years and keep it a discussion point by making frequent yet vague public statements ( mainly when he has something to promote ) after observing most of the buzz he got came from these queerness talks about him. Each case is different so the comparison wouldn't be accurate here and that's probably why you don't see people reacting the same way at all.
