It’s not punishment, it’s protection. It may be hard to distinguish the two if you suffer from emotional/mental health issues but there are people that genuinely need to be contained to receive treatment. The entire right wing media is supporting him, Fox News and Piers Morgan are literally broadcasting extended interviews with him and providing him a platform to air his anti-semitic views and then defending it as "free speech". Candace Owens has been defending him for days. Several athletes such as Antonio Brown and Jake Shields have defended him, the rapper Joey Badass has defended him. And in regards to Twitter or Instagram, of course most of the support is there. You do realise that it's 2022 and most public statements of support happen on social media, right? This all started because of his posts on social media. If you look at his Instagram, you'll see thousands of comments supporting and defending him, so can you please explain how what I said wasn't true? You can't just say "no it's not true that people are supporting him... well besides on social media, but that doesn't count!"
