Maxine Puth 9,053 Posted October 26, 2022 Share Posted October 26, 2022 It’s so weird, because while I enjoy a lot of her songs I also feel like a lot of her discography is kinda… mid? Like for her level of talent. Sometimes I think that as an artist, vocalist, songwriter, etc we can all agree that she’s amazing and one of the best alive, but it’s not always very easily translated to her released work. Like I enjoy Chromatica but there’s not much on there that screams amazing to me, beside maybe 911? Not saying I hate the album, or that I don’t enjoy the music… maybe I’ve just sort of watched so many of her live performances and covers that some of her released work just falls flat. The same thing can be said about Joanne as well. Does anyone else feel this way, or have I just sort of created an unrealistic image of Gaga’s artistry? I think at some point every song on every album has clicked hard for me. Even if I’m only into said song for a week or so, they’ve all done it somehow for some amount of time. Im biased (or I wouldn’t be here), but to me it’s one of the best discography’s out there. I’ve loved every album in its own way. Nobody defines gaga's discography as a masterpiece, she's not hugely acclaimed or praised by the heavens... She made a change in pop music with her songs/visuals/artistic persona/talent, and she's praised as an entertainer for her multiple abilities. But her discography is certainly not perfect, rather interesting i'd say. TFM-BTW-AP have an unapologeticaly proud pop brutallity that, if continued (ARTPOP ii, only god knows, joanne wouldn't exist, designed-for-charts chromatica neither) probably would have made gaga's discography more praised. Don't know. Just a theory. Sticking to her ideas, which she abandoned with AP's underperformance, would've show a different kind of grow that the one she has today in other ventures. I'm of the opinion that every album she puts out has at least 1 track that is a masterpiece/is pushing the pop music envelope in a way where I'm like, "only gaga could have done this" Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

She has some globally adored songs but her deep cuts can be divisive (ARTPOP, BTW). Her discography is nothing but mid and no one in the mainstream music industry is capable of producing Bloody Mary, Sinner’s Prayer, and Do What U Want in a 5 year span so - no. She’s not the greatest songwriter ever, nor she worked with the BEST producers (except Mark Ronson, I’d say) so I don’t know what is the true extent of her potential. But she’s not only about making songs she’s the TP. We do need more visuals to appreciate her musings more though. Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something? But it doesn't make sense to me to be a fan of her, yet you don't like her music? That music is literally her life. Every single song she's ever written has a purpose and so much meaning, and I love each song for what it is and what the intention behind it may have been. Some fans are selective and that's ok, but I choose to love every gift she has given the world because that's what I cherish the most.
