And she’s making it about race because? I am sorry but this is what perpetuates this toxic mentality that we see nowadays where if somebody white says something negative about somebody who happens to be black, THERE MUST be a racial undertone. Or somebody straight says something negative about somebody to happens to be gay, it must be homophobia. And etc. This needs to stop, it’s problematic AF and it’s hurting the credibility of those movements against discrimination. It’s very easy to fall into the other extreme, we must be careful not to create the problem of tomorrow while fighting the problem of yesterday.

It is about race though. Madonna didn’t open any doors regarding sexuality or sexual expression for women of color. And her asserting her “dominance” over Cardi and even Kim who is Armenian is a problem.

Having grills does not make her a gangsta, and if she wants to **** around she can find out.

But see, this is the problem. She was not ‘asserting dominance’ from a racial perspective, you are doing that. She simply stated something that is true, she indeed was one of the first women to express their sexuality openly during those times in THE MEDIA. YOU constantly see race and make it all about race, even when it’s not. This also does not discredit Cardi or any other woman for their contribution. When you stop looking at things from only one single perspective, in your case race, you see a fuller picture. What she is talking about is evolution, and how her brick in the road was the one that led other women to put theirs just as those other women will help pave the way for the next generation.

Then you would have to be specific and say WESTERN MEDIA. Sexuality is different amongst different cultures. Literally most cultures from the past has overt sexuality unlike the cultures heavily influenced by Christianity and Islam. Literally, if you see some old building in south east Asia - they literally have stone walls depicting orgies, the Kamasutra, I swear even the Greeks had sex rooms, if you look at twerking and see it’s history it goes all the way back to African traditional dances. She wrote it as if she invented sexual expression…it is about race because it took a white women for a sexual woman to be acceptable in Western media.

Again, you see Cardi just as an afro latina, as JUST her race, talk about reducing a person to just one aspect of who they are. Let me tell you something, if this discourse was flipped around and a black woman said the same thing about other women who HAPPENED to be white, you would NEVER jump to say the things you do right now. But because we live in the climate we do, you racialize everything. NOWHERE in her statement did Madonna have a problem with Cardi’s race or either hinted at it. This extremist mentality that is backed by no reason and irrational thinking based on constant ASSUMPTIONS of what a person ‘actually meant’ or ‘tried to say’ is what’s driving the left into the ground. Do you think the right’s rise is coincidental? No, it’s not, and it’s SCARY, because if you don’t stop living in this black and white world ( no pun intended ) where EVERYTHING is about race, sexuality, identity, etc, WE, the ones who started all of this ( with good intentions of course ) will have to suffer the most. Gurl, it’s a given she was talking about the media... when you have a conversation you put in context the whole history of the world? No. She’s talking about the music industry, obviously, so please don’t reach like that. Nobody said she invented sexual expression.

There were several users in previous thread using this same logic to discredit Madonna. Really stupid honestly.
