Cher who's been doing this since TV were black and white, where women don't even think wearing revealing and provocative clothing is a good idea, let alone on national TV, is laughing on her throne right now reading this. And yet she doesn't feel owed that she is paving the way. Perhaps that's the difference for when you feel secured in your career, and not.

Madonna need to get over herself.

Yeah years before Cher was already pushing the limits for public female nudity while Donna summers was having an endless orgasm on her album.

Years before these 2 Mae West pushed many buttons for what was ok to express for a woman in charge of her sexuality and actually made it popular af...

Madonna makes it seem like if it was pretty much all thanks to her but she's one of the artists ladies who helped bringing this freedom in expressing your sexuality as you want for women.

The biggest one possibly in terms of impact indeed but far to be the only one or the first.

We get it. She repeats this like 10 times a year. It’s getting tired.

Madonna is still extremely underrated though? Just because she likes to stay a vocal member at the table with relevant younger musicians  she needs to justify it because people say she is too old. As a man in her age with her legacy people would applaud her with these words in her story! It's the same old thing, women who paved the way for younger artists are not treated the same as men with the same career and it's just a farce. You call her tiresome for reminding people that exact fact. Women are still so underrated it's getting tired. She is Madonna and it's ****ing 2022.

Lmfao I never said she isn’t underrated. Ofc she is. I love Madonna. But we already know she paved way for women without her rubbing it in everybody faces. Calm down it’s not that deep. She is so uptight about it that is the problem. Like we get it ffs. You paved the way we get it

Yeah. And the more she rubs it in, the more she comes out as an insufferable egomaniac. I used to love her. But the way she's showing off, promoting herself as the Origin of all Things only goes to show how bitter and frustrated she is for having to even share her throne with younger Queens of the Pop Realm.

Madonna is really far from being the first female artist celebrity having performed on photographs, on screen and stage in birthday suit. Come on, G-search for it if in doubt !

That’s what I’m saying. Like nobody is denying her impact. But she didn’t invent sh*t like she acts like

Yeah, cuz these girlies don't get heavy criticism also of the same type :selena:

Ok maybe a little less criticism than Madonna. But even the slight improvement, Madonna alone is not the sole reason why

She did play some role but society was already on a trend of gradually becoming more open long before Madonna become known.

Celebs like Cher and Marilyn Monroe among others were pushing boundaries also before her, and boundaries continue to be pushed after her

I'm not saying she didn't contribute. But the trend was already there and would have continued with or without her

To give herself credit like she's the reason artists can do what they can now is so egotistical and narcissistic imo that it's beyond belief if she genuinely believes she deserves THAT much credit

Nice to see she's humble. She isn't wrong but it seems kinda attention seeking to be posting stuff like this. If anyone doesnt take her seriously anymore its mainly down to her own clownery

Meh, she's giving herself too much credit tho.

Again, ppl sometimes talk like she's the reason blundries were pushed for today.

Culture has been pushing boundaries gradually of what acceptable since long before Madonna.

She may have been one of the most major components of that social and pop culture trend, but it's not like Madonna herself was the trend.

The boundaries would still have continued to be pushed with or without her just like it already was for many decades before she became famous

It's not about devaluing her work or contribution. But sometimes the level of credit she gets for today's pop culture I find is exagerated. There's no reason to assume that if Madonna alone hadn't existed that pop girls like Miley, Cardi or Gaga couldn't exist today still

ppl were going to get naked eventually with or without her, just like they did it before her

Very few who had that size of a platform would have dared to do what she did in the early 1990s and her career paid dearly for it. She totally did set in motion the ability for artists who came after her to be proud of their bodies and sexuality.
