EXACTLY! Wasn't it sold for just 99c or something on Amazon.

I found this news article but idk how true it is. In any case, people wouldn't buy multiple versions of an album if they didn't want or were hyped about it.

A subset of the album’s customers bought the alt covers. The GP doesn’t do that. And while Taylor’s fanbase is massive, their buying won’t result in these sales, and especially not these streams.

her label could (should) run a college course in marketing lmaoo

but is it even her label or is it just her, obviously she has some sort of team but I feel like her label would not have chosen this rollout. Just something to think about as she has been behind most of her major career shifts (like 1989 being full pop, folklore surprise release)

Yet she remains irrelevant in France, Spain, Germany and most of Europe aside from the UK. The highest debut in most of the European countries is outside the Top 20.

Why? And why are people ignoring that these records stem from the English-language markets because she truly has less than impressive numbers in Europe, Latin America and Japan?

Really good for her. But to he honest I don’t get it. I liked anti hero but to me the album sounds a bit boring… I loved 1989 and Reputation, but I really dont get how she gets those insane numbers.
Also here in the Netherlands I feel we never heard anything from folklore or evermore. So it is crazy to me how she does this and for example Gaga barely does 10% of this, even though I feel her songs are played more here.
But good to see woman winning after the bad music we had the past years with all the same rap and hiphop songs

Honestly I would be eyerolling too if Billboard didn't mess with the bundling rules a few years ago. Get the 1.2 mill however you can, because it hasn't happened since.

Sure, but what other artist can release that many different variants of an album and have it sell like this? Literally none

Babes, none of that matters when she crushes the single most important market in the world.

I kinda feel that Midnight (along with Folklore and Evermore) are mostly intensely appealing for swifties. I mean if you are an average GP who have no idea of the context within the album then her music won’t appeal that much. Hence the lackluster performance in many non English speaking countries.

However, if you are a fan of her and is up to date with her story, and therefore can decode her songs - then these albums will bring euphoria and bliss. And she has like one of the biggest fanbase among the MPG.

I can see myself going crazy if Gaga does the same thing :enigma:

so it’s understandable how she manage to achieve these feats.

Sorry to say that but it don’t matter. USA is the biggest market in the world.

Probably because her songs are quite lyric heavy and this epecially isn't massively catchy so for someone who doesn't speak English its not gonna be as big of a deal considering the albums all about the lyrics.
