Followed by the lyricism which was a step down, creatively, from albums like TFM, BTW, and ARTPOP. In fact, I think the only thing Chromatica did better than any other Gaga album was make money Still solid though and I'd pay double to go to TCB for a fourth time just for Enigma alone Oh that's interesting! Maybe we mean a different thing when we talk about production.. I don't know how to describe it best but chromatica has just that overall "cleaner" feeling to it. Like it's easier on the ear while especially BTW and ARTPOP can be a bit exhausting when you listen to them from top to bottom That beeing said, I do think the albums you mentioned are more daring and more experimental with ARTPOP being my all time favourite. JohnDeWayne 211
It's a decent enough pop record. But did it raise the bar? Nah.
Putang Ina Mo 2,062
The tour, yes. But the era abd album, nope. The album felt too safe and given how silent she was during the era, Chromatica didn't really have the GAGA EXPERIENCE. my username says it all 🇵🇭

Wet Fire 6,714
It was an improvement from Joanne. But it didn't match the audacity, fearlessness and creative experimentation of Born This Way. But then again, only a few albums have done that. The production on Chromatica is sleek and polished. But did it push the envelope like Bloody Mary or Aura? No. Dawn of Chromatica, in fact, did that lol. I'd really hope Gaga will supervise the production herself un the next album.

Sorry for answering just now. I'm lurking most of the time here and don't see when someone quotes me Chromatic is def easier on the ear. Easier in many aspects and also flows well. Which is something gaga had been struggling with since btw. Too saturated in many aspects. There was a time gaga was all about more is more. Which was the time, for her and us. In another way, chromatica is too empty. And we still cant get nearly the same experience on record as have on concert. then on a production aspect, theres burns, that make crispy danceable sounds. Hes def one to keep for next dance record

StressedOut 617
I know y'all have a vendetta against a certain producer, but Chromatica was overall produced very well. Even reviews of the album concede that. In that aspect alone, yeah the bar was raised. Overall, maybe the bar remained in the same position.
Sherry 4,711
Chromatica as an album did raised the bar, so did the tour. I mean we had Ariana, Blackpink and Elton John on the same album. So many great producers. Besides Stupid Love MV, The rest 2 MVs were really amazing. As an era it was such a let down. I don't blame her or her team since it all happened because of floprona as they did say they planned the whole era to be her biggest for 2 years but it all went down hill. I do, however, think they could've handled it better. The Tour was her best since the Born This Way Ball tour and it definitely raised the bar real high. The next album may not be as anticipated as Chromatica was but Gaga is known to surprise us so we'll see how it goes. Love it when you call me legs, in the morning buy me eggs 🥚
Nycboy 968
If you consider her entire music career, I don’t think Chromatica raised the bar. To me, that bar was set TF, raised with TFM and raised again with BTW. If you consider her music career post-ARTPOP, then Chromatica certainly exceeded expectations. I guess you could say it raised the bar within the context of 2015-2020.
RochestrMonstr 2,475
I don’t think it “raised any bars”. All of her previous albums, including the less respected ARTPOP and Joanne albums, seemed more interesting to me by being all over the place musically. Chromatica is great but I didn’t like how calculated it seemed for a Gaga album. Almost all straight-up dance songs with beat drops. Almost too “clean” my opinion. I guess that’s why a lot of people like it but it’s not for me as much, Also the previous Eras as a whole seemed more interesting, (again including the less popular Joanne and ARTPOP eras), as they were filled with live performances. I understand there was a pandemic but it seemed to have blocked Gaga from performing more than other artists somehow?
