Gagaplayer315 13,701
Just claiming Anti-hero and Maroon The production is SO boring, every song sounds the same and she's literally talking in most of them. I was excited when people said it sounded like Lover but this is not it

Really on the fence with this one
LastNight 5,731
I thought it was just ok on first listen, but there’s definitely some stand-outs on there. Karma is my favourite at the moment, it’s the most fun and danceable and that’s what I was hoping for. When it began I thought we were getting a darker 1989, but it felt more like folklore/evermore as it went on. I love those two albums so much, but I was definitely expecting something a bit different. As a body of work I think it would be stronger if they’d removed a couple of main album songs and replaced them with the stronger of the bonus tracks and cut the rest. But as a release I think it’s nice that she serves so much to her fans, and out of that many songs there’s something for everyone. I’m sure it’ll grow on me in time, but for today I’m enjoying the bangers on The Loneliest Time more.
darkgaga 3,673
Are there any 1989/Reputation like songs? Still like those albums the best. Never was able to get in the later albums
SarahYuko 1,002
It's hard to truly dislike something so sonically safe, but the safety of it might just be what ultimately doesn't get me going back for seconds in most of the tracks; that's not to say it's bad or boring music per se, but I felt this way as I did with Positions - it simply doesn't stand out. I'm also a little worn out by the lyrical content; overplayed themes across her discography. There are moments when I think, really? More of this? Much as I could understand, say, Beyonce's self-indulgent lyrics in Renaissance (which I understand was in line with the album's theme and cultural references), it feels a little wonky in Midnights. To her credit though, her tongue-in-cheek lines are definitely more refined than previous records. I do think the album cover is beautiful, and yeah that's about it. It's nice so many people are enjoying it though. She's a hype machine for sure.
RichAssPiss 4,753
I'm really glad I didn't shell out for the "Target exclusive" just to get piano versions when she was sitting on seven more new songs.
Robo Ga 15,189
This is my favourite of her albums already… I am not a huge fan her generally, but this is so beautiful and exactly what I love from her. ❤️ OBSESSED 🤖⚡️
KubaM316 13,611
Ok, some thoughts after listening: Some people said it's gonna sound like 1989 but darker. They were kind of right. I liked the second part of the album a little bit more than the first one. Lavender Haze reminds me of I Think He Knows. At first I expected something more from Maroon (I guess cause I was comparing it to other 2nd tracks?) but I think it will grow on me with time. Slightly dissapointed that Lana ended up just as backing vocals... but just slightly. I actually ended up liking Snow On The Beach, but it's still an interesting choice. It definitely didn't turn out as bad as people said. You're On Your Own Kid has left me processing everything and I still didn't get over it. I don't know why but for some reason I expected Midnight Rain to sound like Sparks Fly. Question... ? and Bejeweled were definitely more than I expected them to be. Karma is THAT b**** Sweet Nothing and Mastermind remind me of something else, but I don't know what exactly. Favourite songs (as of now): Anti-Hero, You're On Your Own Kid, Karma, Lavender Haze, Mastermind, Bejeweled And you know what? I actually enjoyed it. Sure, there's not that many songs that stand out but they all DON'T SOUND THE SAME. And after listening to some of them for the second, third time I only enjoy them more and more. In conclusion: I love it
HookerOnAChurch 6,717
At first I hated Labyrinth, now is among my favorite Taylor's songs.

Anti-Hero drew me on first listen and by the end I was already singing along a little bit with tears in my eyes. Nobody writes like she does Oh my god right? Oh yeah, about these: Some of those tracks stand out even more (but not too much) than those from the standard edition (at least in my opinion). Paris ended up as my favourite out of these. Meanwhile The Great War... I think I need more time with this one (sorry). Same with Glitch. I don't think it's bad but it's... let's just say kinda interesting. At first I thought Bigger Than The Whole Sky is gonna be a love song. Yeah... I was totally wrong. Nevertheless I really liked this one. And I love the way it sounds. Would've, Could've, Should've is... A LOT. I loved it during the first listening, and as I'm writing this I'm listening to it, and it's just becoming better and better. Dear Reader is a cute closing track. I really wanna see everyone's reaction to "You should find another guiding light". I bet everyone will be like "NOOO WE DON'T, YOU'RE THE ONLY THING WE NEED". Overall it was a really nice surprise. I love it. Spoiler and still waiting for Hits Different
trutheverafter 128
Out of all the bonus tracks I loved Would've, Could've, Should've the most. The chorus is so haunting. I don't know why but it reminds me of Out Of The Woods. „Talk is cheap but costs a lot“
