I’m really trying to give this album a chance… I just think Taylor needs to take a long break after this. The songs are starting to sound the same and so basic :koons:

I genuinely don’t get it.  It sounds like every other albums she’s put out since 1989.  I get that her focus is more on the lyrics and storytelling, but sonically, it’s mundane and uninspired.

I don't know how you can say this sounds anything like folklore or evermore or how it even sounds similar to reputation. It shares some DNA with 1989 but even that's slight. Lover is the closest sister.

I continue to be baffled by her popularity. The songs just plod along inoffensively. I'm sure she'll be devastated when she reads this.

I’ve always been a huge Taylor fan, I was waiting for the new album, did I enjoy it? Yeah. I just think she needs new production. Vocals sound cookie cutter and I was dying to get some actual good music/sound form her. I think having the same producer is no bueno in my humble opinion.
Huge lyric driven album, loved the lyrics.

Usually I don't like her albums on first listen but end up loving them in the end. So I'll definitely continue to stream.

My main two issues with this album: half of the songs here are about revenge, karma, owning her haters, her experiencing bad press etc. It's such a tired subject for her at this point. She really needs to get over it. Secondly, the lyricism is so clunky here. I know her writing has changed more towards poetry since folklore but why does every chorus have to be so wordy and overly complicated? I wish she still had some of the poppy simplicity of 1989.

I agree. I feel like we all wanted some more pop after folklore and Evermore. I think Jack is a “yes” producer to her. She needs someone new and different, my ears are so tired of the same production in her music and vocals. She needs to change it up
