I think I'm just gonna wait untill it drops on Disney+ and then binge it on a hungover sunday. The promo looks really cool, but I don't have the urge anymore to go out of my way to watch it

Ok I just watched the first two episodes and I gotta say, after reading your comments I was expecting something waaaaaay worse. I actually enjoyed it, like . . . a lot.

- I agree, this time the show doesn't feel like typical AHS, it's missing some of that eerie vibe that's been present for most of the seasons. But in a way, I think it's a good thing, this more grounded and serious approach feels fresh within the show.

- I enjoyed the slower pace instead of the chaotic "let's throw things at the viewer just for the sake of it" they tend to do. Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but it feels like they're taking their time to build up the story.

- For the first time in ages seems like there's no weirdly out of place characters that are super camp with cringe dialogues or badly written sassy remarks. (Basically any Leslie Grossman character, Billy Enrich, etc).

- I think the acting is pretty solid.

- I can see the disease storyline being just a side story with no real purpose or closure, but maybe they're actually going somewhere with it.

- Not that I want them to be super explicit, but it did felt extremely tame and clean for a show that had Adam Levine losing an arm, a monster with a drill dildo, a killer vagina, a snuff film, etc.

- I've always complained about this but I think it's a shame that the show started with some of the most unique cinematography on modern tv, and now it looks like any generic Netflix show (but with a decent budget). The show really did loose some of it's spark after they stopped shooting on film. And Alfonso Gómez-Rejón and Michael Goi did wonders with AHS and it really suffered by them not being involved after Hotel.

- Lmao why was she performing THERE?? Miss Patti LuPone deserves better. Also a weird concept to have a lounge singer in a place like that but sure. I literally laughed out loud when I saw her

That actually would happen. :) Patti LuPone is doing an homage to Bette Midler, who got her start performing in bath houses for gay men in the 70's. Gaga tips her hat to it in the Bad Romance video.

My take away from all of this is that I'm definitely not as gay as I could be :laughga:

I ****ING LOVE THIS SEASON THUS FAR.  It's so upsetting, visually stimulating and unabashedly gay.  I love the shout-out to Bette Midler in the bathhouses... If patty lupone sang in the bathhouses, I'd go.

It def seems like it's all an allegory for the AIDS epidemic in 1980s nyc (the police antagonizing the gays, the virus side story, the U.S. government having a part in it, etc.)

Really hope it doesn't end up like last season (starting out good, completely missing the landing and the end)

Just watched episode 2. A lot about this season makes me really uncomfortable, but I gotta say I'm actually enjoying the murder mystery thing it has going on. I feel like lots of hints are being dropped and I'm trying to piece it together. I just really hope they actually have endings planned for these little trails they're leading us down, and don't just throw together some bullsh.it ending.

Also there's a lot of characters I really don't like, but the ones I do like so far are Adam, Gino and the lesbians. I'm indifferent towards Billie Lourd's character so far but I might like her. I also hate Zachary Quinto's character so much, yet again. I'm afraid I'm getting a correlation kind of effect where I just hate his face in general :laughga: sorry Zach

I thought Zachary was sinisterly good. He frightens me but it's just a testament to good his performance was.

What are your thoughts on Patrick? I love how non-scene he is, it makes him so attractive. :bradley:

I actually like Adam the most because he's cute and his attitude is refreshing in comparison to all the other gays on this season so far. Patrick I'm not in to because he's so closeted and also a liar :)  I'm just really turned off by the whole 'loving boyfriend at home, homophobic straight-passing outside the home' thing

Edit: I just realised they already used the name Patrick in season 1 for one of the gay men in the gay couple that died in the murder house :bear: did the writers run out of gay-names or something?

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

It's the emotional damage that appeals to me, why am I like this :partysick:

I wouldn't call him a liar, he clearly wants to help and it's almost touching when he visited Adam alone in the cell. :bradley:

Sis that's unhealthyyyy.... being a 'fixer' just leads to one way relationships with broken men

I mean I get it, I understand his character staying closeted in order to remain in the police force and help gay men in the way he can. Very noble. But that mixed in with the fact he straight up LIED about not knowing anything about the scene, repeatedly, when he actually knows all about the hanky-code and leather bars etc... huge red flag. He's pretending to be innocent and closeted buy there's something else there. Even his ex wife warned Gino that Patrick is a compulsive liar. Something is gonna bubble to the surface with his character.

Oh also the guy that answered the payphone and got locked in the basement was really, really cute :laughga: I liked him for the 2 mins he was on screen before getting abducted

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Yes, I don't mean to suggest I get off on the toxicity in these men. It'd be quite self-denigrating to just let them do whatever they want. But it's usually the concomitant behaviour and their vision of life that really appeal to me. When Patrick was getting all vulnerable with Gino, I just want to hold him like how Ally held Jackson. :partysick:

Oh I totally understand! I actually find vulnerability incredibly attractive. But when I was younger I used to be attracted to people who were 'broken' because I enjoyed being caring towards others. But I ended up surrounded by people who just used me to offload their emotional baggage and never offered anything in return in the relationship. Emotional vampires that just used me like an on-call therapist who were neverrrr there for me. So now I'm like Jessie J.. n-n-n-n-n nooo, n-n n-n-n-n-n no. But being able to be emotionally vulnerable and supportive and it goes both ways:bradley::tony::pray::giveup::lolly::heat:

Okay things got too deep and personal in the AHS thread tonight :laughga:

So they’re releasing 2 episodes weekly it seems, acting and writing this season is dreadful. I feel for some of the actors because they’re trying to give it their all with what they have to work with.
