No. One of them will do it first, cos he is already at the max age limit to do it or face prison. It might seem archaic method if you live with your privilege in Western countries that doesn't have to worry about such thing. It's easy to scream how stupid this is over the computer/phone screen with a pack of cheetos by yourside. But some countries have no other options but to enlists their citizens since they are trapped in brinkmanship. Not like these countries would like to do it if they have a choice. Agree. It's obvious that the reason why South Korea is doing this is because of possible conflicts with North Korea, their neighboring country and basically a bomb waiting to explode. What people should point out however is the corruption and abuse of authority within their military (some might be due to the archaic seonbae-hubae system in itself) instead of the mandatory service law itself. I'm not from South Korea, and I am aware that not all of their military is as corrupt, correct me if I'm wrong, but I have heard and seen anecdotes regarding the abuses some people experience during their mandatory service of SK which should mean that their government do need to take action in this kind of issues. 🇵🇭༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽🇵🇭

I once cornered the officer about this backwards practice. He said he once caught a sexually repressed conscript from south east Anatolia trying to “inseminate” a watermelon, and that Armed Forces didn’t want to add any people who declare to be a possible willing recipient of that into the equation for the sake of regimental unity. It’s a response plagued by a problematic joke but kind of reveals the mindset. Though he might have made it up to not admit that the armed forces is just plain homophobic in a backwards way because he was at our high school. It’s easier to say because many low level conscripts are sexually repressed and uneducated so they cannot protect open bottom gays from them and maintain regimental unity. That being a lie is possible since the officer seemed smart enough to read the room that outright homophobia would paint him in a bad light in our school. So many famously feminine gay men served in the Turkish Army without ever declaring it. You can pass the gay part and fail an alternative mental stability test 😅😅😅😅😅 I am just gonna pay it off myself personally 😅 Gay test part is soooo - undignified ? gumzy3000 6,997
I actually really respect Koreans for holding on to thier values and beliefs so strongly. The fact BTS is now having to serve in the military is setting a huge precedent that no matter who you are, you will be treated like any other South Korean. Also, to the people complaining about this, the truth is that the real world is not fairies and butterflies. Whether you like it or not, the reality is that South Korea is neighbored by a very hostile threat and they need to be prepared in case North Korea attacks. trolly troll troll
