You should be worried actually that this girl chose art to protest actually. Neofascists' first targets always are art. It's like a thermometer for them to test people reactions and they slowly increase until they commit an attrocious act. Also, neofascists hate art.

Fascists hate art, and this is a fact seen many times in history. Don't underestimate art, cuz it's not only from bread and water that lives the man. Art is an expression of culture, it's an expression of history. It's more than just protecting an old thing.

Remember how isis destroyed those temples and artifacts on iraq and Syria? On that occasion they didn't killed people, bit at the same time they did. To destroy art and history is to destroy culture, destroy identity, destroy history, destroy ideologies. It's not as simple and square as you think, and they DO have a reason to target art. Today they destroy art, tomorrow youll  be under their boots and won't even question it

Definitely would agree with that  I agree that there are more sensible targets of this type of action. However, there would probably be the counter-argument that this gets more media attention than attacking some random headquarters or petrol station?

So what do you propose, in that case? Media attention, forcing people to pay attention to the climate crisis, is beneficial. And you haven't proposed a better way to get the necessary attention yet.

she's pretty much right. i've gone back and forth about the way she did it (mostly because she is getting press, so her message is being spread around the world). but ultimately i am against it because people are not going to listen and aren't gonna be receptive to understanding it. they're just going to be aghast at the soup on the painting. 

ironically, her time would have been better served training herself in an artistic medium and conveying her message that way, because people are more receptive to this kind of thing when it's all dressed up and made pretty in a work of art.

They would’ve been better off making a demonstration at a gas station. What they did here was make very few people question where their priorities lie and make many more look at their cause as a joke. If you want a statement about society to be taken seriously then you need to know how society works. Gas prices are astronomical at the moment. The public is likelier to take a statement highlighting that more seriously because they feel it in their pockets. Not this that can easily be labeled as childish because of the where and when.
