Wait, wait, where the proof of that? Where is the proof that since day 1 gaga has thought to give writing credits for those short samples? My point is everyone samples. I bet you gaga didn’t give writing credits early in her career.

it is never that serious to pretend like an artist stole a whole song. :trollga:

Girl, if she didn't then artists would have attacked Gaga just the way they are attacking Beyonce. Get over yourself :derpga:

But did she though? Yall just saying to say it.

because nobody is saying she didn't despite having some major hits. they'd have every legal right to sue gaga and get their coin if she had illegaly used a sample but nobody has, why? because she gave them their fair share

you're the one who's just saying stuff for the sake it :saladga:

mother, what must i do?

This is literally just because of the rhythm in which she says “look what you made me do”.  There’s no lyrics or tune that is borrowed, it’s just the timing of how she says the words. It feels like a huge reach but she just paid to avoid a situation.

she sampled the song, it wasn’t just because of rhythm;

that’s how it works, anytime you use any kind of melody, interpolation, baseline, rhyme or repetition you have to pay a fee and accept the terms of licensing.

It’s not a reach, it’s honoring someones creative labors.

because Gaga has always gave credit for her samples, go to BMI or ASCAP, hell look at her writing credits,

it tells you all you need to know.

Even when she bought prexisting beats ala Donatella she paid and gave credit where it was due,

you can’t compare Beyoncé’s doing to Gaga

and yes, Gaga gave writing credits even early in her career because she did it with You & I because it samples “we will rock you”, your argument is null and void because you’re throwing out info without any evidence to back it up and simply to try to paint a broader picture than there really is

She and Jay Z are probably the most arrogant people I’ve heard of. No surprise there.

All this over like 3 seconds of a quasi sample. Half of a line. And we're back to calling Beyonce names and belittling her work/career. I love it here.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

If getting the artists "approval" doesn't have any impact on the sample clearing then...

Please keep it civil here and keep Gaga out of the discussion, she's not your personal punching bag every time you want to prove a point or save your faves ass.

Everyone is sampling, some of the great pop songs are made out of samples, the point is if the artists who were sampled were asked for it, honored and credited.

If you don't hear a sample, it doesn't mean it's not there, it's just you probably need a ear check, seriously.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I'm not a Beyonce apologist, but I'm just confused on why some of these artists expect a personal phone call from her asking if she can sample their song? She has people that reach out to get it cleared. Obviously it would be personable for her to do so, but it just sounds like business to me..

Lets all come for gaga next then

so yes boo, WHATEVER!

What you gonna say now?

And the thing is if gaga did it (sampling) as a central theme (with honest mistakes mostly due to management) they would consider it “high art” just because and they don’t even realize their internalized biases lol

Mess. I like Beyoncé and want to think she's a nice person because Gaga and Adele love her but all of this drama keeps coming and coming. It seems more like the people that are in charge of these technical stuff during her album cycles are taking the wrong decisions or doing a lot of things that they can get away with only because "it's Beyoncé, why would they say no".

I honestly would be very very surprised if Beyoncé is the one doing all of this and on purpose.

She absolutely isn’t lmao do you know how involved an album of this scale and scope is? Lmao no way she handles the legal **** like that lmao there’d be too much liability since she’s not a lawyer haha she’s a mother, runs a label, and a clothing line while being an artist as well. Even in COVID, ma’am was BUSY
