Ask GP to name any of her recent (non ASIB) songs and I bet they’d struggle.

why would you exclude ASIB songs? :laughga: people don't exclude I Will Always Love You from being a Whitney song

mother, what must i do?

Katy didn't show much evolution through her career nothing growth wise. The only performance artists that are S tier to me are Madonna, Kylie and Gaga. The true chain of Pop Queens. Let see if Ms MaxCut can join tho.

Love it when you call me legs, in the morning buy me eggs 🥚

katy had one maybe two super successful eras

but other than that, shes nowhere near gagas level of impact.

Katy had three succcessful eras.

one of the boys was a breakthrough, she had a number one with I kissed a girl, and then hot and cold, waking up in Vegas and thinking of you. All memorable hits.

teenage dream was a monster era, breaking the record for female artists by having 5 number one songs on one record.

prism was a massive era too, Dark Horse and Roar not only were number ones but became the biggest songs of her career and her Prismatic World Tour was huge and became her biggest tour ever.

you can’t discount any of those three eras. All were smashes.  She hasn’t risen to those heights again, but few pop stars have such high peaks and few climb the mountain that many times again, unless you’re Gaga or Madonna. Katy deserves  her props.

Agree. Those 3 are performance artists who have experimented with their sounds and looks.plus beyonce but I wouldn’t say her sound or looks has changed that much over the years, but it seems to work for her. Katy had 3 massive eras. Gaga has had 4. The fame , the fame monster, born this way, ASIB. Then moderate era - chromatica/rain on me . Although she has also done the hard yards - doing a country/rockabilly album, 2 jazz albums and acclaimed music performances (sound of music, jazz, Super Bowl) and set herself up for acclaim and longevity. Katy may make a comeback though - look at Nicki Minaj getting a hit (even though it’s another sample song)

Gaga still being popular and relevant even if her songs aren’t spending 10+ weeks on billboard hot 100

She’s culturally relevant but her music isn’t anymore 🤷‍♂️

ASIB is not a Lady Gaga album. Trying to cling to it because it’s her most commercially successful project doesn’t change the fact her albums don’t have the cultural impact that they used to.

It’s not like I’m saying her music isn’t good. I’m just saying the GP isn’t here for her own music like they used to be.

but it is a lady gaga album, it's credited as a lady gaga and bradley cooper album full of original songs by her, all the songs and awards have her name on it :poot:

maybe you're just too focused on trying to diminish her success that you forget about the highs? the GP were here for the music just as much (if not more) for the movie, ARUTW is one of her most streamed songs of all time without it being a single

mother, what must i do?

I can understand what you’re getting at. She may not be slaying the charts as much as when she first came out.But she hasn’t released enough music lately to gage it. Hold my hand went top 40 in a lot of places, despite it being grating to the ears at times. Rain on me did well. Chromatica was released in the middle of a pandemic and still went number 1 everywhere. It’ll be interesting to see what is next musically for her and how it charts. I don’t think any of us are expecting her to do as well as harry styles, Adele, Taylor and Beyoncé. But it would be nice.

I’m not trying to diminish her at all. I absolutely love her, I loved ASIB and I love Chromatica.

Doesn’t mean I can’t see that her own music doesn’t get as much attention or hype as she used to, and that’s fine. I don’t care how her music performs, I just want to enjoy it and for her to do what she loves. I never even said it was a bad thing.

Fortunately I’m not a delusional teenage Little Monster anymore.

TF, TFM (By extension), BTW, ARTPOP was huge, ASIB soundtrack (literally everywhere)
and Chromatica almost had the same impact like ARTPOP

keep on looking for Psyduck

Remind me what songs from ARTPOP the GP liked again?

Gaga's evolution has been incredible to watch. She's so far beyond pop star status. She's becoming a legend, she already is one to many people. I feel like the sky is the limit for her.

I always thought Katy was underrated as a vocalist. Her evolution hasn't been quite as grand as Gaga's, but she's still in her 30s. I look forward to seeing what she does in the future. Maybe Broadway.

I'm not a Katy hater but you can't compare her to Gaga in 2022 :rip: It (kind of) made sense a decade ago, but not anymore.
