DJWS Production Appreciation

Featured Posts

I love DJWS. I love the way you can tell he is responsible for the cleaner, crisper productions on Born This Way - giving it a modern edge. I love the way he wasn‘t afraid to experiment and collaborate on ARTPOP, giving us one of Gagas sonically most interesting Albums ever. I love how he can also produce commercially-accessible Pop to Rock Songs as shown on ASIB (or The Cure / We Could be Lovers).

I genuinely think he is Gagas best Producer. I know a majority of this site loves RedOne, but I don‘t think anything matches DJWS flexibility and his skill to adjust to the different sounds Gaga likes.

I really hope they get together in the Studio soon and produce magic and leave all the bad blood of the past behind.

I love his work to bits, but I definitely wouldn't call it clean and crisp, but experimental for sure! For clean and crisp I would look at BloodPop tbh

I think these are clean + crisp. I do think his production can be the opposite too, but that can also be a stylistic choice or Gagas intent.

...is this a pun? :enigma:

But yeah, I love his work too tbh. Her best producer purely by versatility alone, as you said.

In my head I immediately went to the gritty songs of BTW and ARTPOP, but you're totally right: these are quite the opposite

I get exactly what you mean. “Bloody Mary” and “Government Hooker” sound so clean and honestly could be released in 2022, meanwhile “Marry The Night” and “The Edge of Glory” sound like they were recorded over Skype (even though they are obviously brilliant songs).

People still thinking RedOne can't make different things with Gaga while the last thing they gave to us is Angel Down :enigma:

His production and co-writing are still untouched and he made most of her biggest classic and a lot of fan faves : So Happy I Could Die, Monster, ScheiBe, Hair, Gypsy...

DJWS is great as well. I hate comparing her producers to make one look better.

RedOne only has a writing credit on that song which is probably a technicality. I doubt he had much involvement in writing it, especially considering that it’s a ballad.

The only thing RedOne produced in the last 12 years that charted was Ava Max’s “Kings & Queens” and it does sound like a deep cut on a 2008 album.

RedOne posted the picture of the writing session and composition and said it was meant to be like this. The leaked % of writing credits on this songs are giving him all the credits he deserved. The credits mentions they both co-wrote, co-produced and made music of the original version (guitare by RedOne and piano by Gaga)

By the way, zero shade but what  Paul did outside Lady Gaga's discography beside begging fans to signing petitions for a new ARTPOP album and doing My Little Poney soundtrack and a Pitbull crappy song ?

We all know Gaga brings the best of her producers. RedOne and DJWS included.
