I get what you're saying but this isn't meant to be played in your car lmao :ladyhaha:

Like some Björk fans go hard (like myself) and absolutely will blare this anytime, anywhere - but this is more like an art piece that you are meant to contemplate and unpack. You watch Top Gun when you want to be entertained, and you watch a David Lynch movie like Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me when you want to have an experience that f*cks with your head a bit. Both are valid media forms, both are great - but they each require a very different approach and serve different purposes.

And funnily enough Björk has Top Guns AND Twin Peaks in her discography :ally:

The way she SPECIFICALLY asked fans to play the song out loud (most likely in a car) :billie:

I have always liked the idea of Bjork and I like her most accessible singles, mostly from the earliest parts of her career (Army of Me, it’s oh so quiet, isobel) but I haven’t liked any of her more recent stuff. But always find her fascinating. This song seems a bit more accessible to me for some reason. I actually really like the horns. It sounds like it could be a song from a really weird musical that I would love. And I love her constant emphasis on interesting looks and visuals.  If she tours this album I think I’ll go see her. Even if I don’t like every song I’m sure the show would be a real trip.

Same here honestly, Björk is one of these artists that I feel like I SHOULD love, but sadly couldn’t get into their music. I also like some of the classics but most of her album tracks I couldn’t bring myself to enjoy. I listened to Atopos in the dark with my eyes closed and it felt like an awakening on top of being something I’d legitimately listen to again. This feels like humans and aliens collaborating on a song and it’s so ****ing sick :bradley: I’m obsessed

We have very similar feelings about her and this song!  Maybe this is the album that does it for me. But if not, at least we have this song.

Oh Bjork. Gone are the Melodies  and beautiful music/combined with her earthy and raw vocals. This is just noise.

She seems to have a nice concept for her albums, and puts a lot of effort especially in the visual part. I love all about the visual part, the cgi, 3D animation, costumes, and videos serving in general.

Now, that being said, I think she is a terrible vocalist (in the bad way). So sorry to her fans, but I don't think she is vocally skilled, so I guess that's why she puts so much effort in other areas where she is talented.

The irony, of course, being that she is actually very skilled lol a lot of her songs are very difficult to sing due to being written in hard measures, unconventional progressions, key changes, etc. Jóga is a great example of this and is an iconic song of hers. It’s a pretty hard song despite seeming maybe otherwise.

like dude your comment is not a compliment, you just sound like a prick. “I guess that’s why she puts so much effort in areas where she is talented.” Please. She’s literally a musical virtuoso. If you don’t get it, fine, but if you aren’t going to take the time to understand her musicality either before making claims about it, you can move tf on rather than dragging someone baselessly. This was such a mean-spirited and condescending comment to make, honestly.

I always see complaints about the lack of melodies or sing along choruses.

Ummm Crystalline, Mutual Core, Lionsong, Stonemilker, Sue Me are songs after Medulla that have melodies and choruses

Sure the verses are more broken down almost by syllables but the choruses are there.

I don't listen to Björk to look for easy accessible songs to sing. She's an experience and I can't wait for the rest of the album.

I don't think many artists can perfectly hit the high notes in Pagan Poetry without sounding like they're shrieking or screaming. She does it effortlessly.
