Harry Styles on his sexuality

I get what he's trying to do, but he's not doing what he thinks he's doing imo. This is progressive for the 70's and 80's, but treating it as something that's even worth keeping private is mystifying non-hetero sexuality that were trying to normalize. Sexuality is not a big deal, so why make such a point to conceal it?

Maybe this isn't the case, but to me it's giving "I painted myself into a corner and if I tell the truth I'll get canceled".

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

Exactly. Bowie already pulled this stunt.

Can we all just leave him alone and let him live his life? If he is gay or bi, then stop pressuring him to come out, a lot of people on this site know what it’s like to feel that pressure, and no matter how progressive people may be that doesn’t mean he owes anyone a coming out. And if he’s not gay, he’s still expressing himself how he wants to, bending the stereotypes around masculinity, providing a safe space at his shows, and being a phenomenal ally.

Tbh if he actually didn't want folks to discuss it cause it would feel like pressure to him he wouldn't give elusive answers about it every now and then which is the best way to constantly relaunch the rumors as he had many opportunities to notice yet.

People here generally don't seem to require a coming out from him, rather wish that queerness status wouldn't be a buzz tool and that whatever he's queer or not btw.

And yes he's a great ally indeed but that's kinda normal seeing all the headlines he gets from being associated to us and nurturing this public association himself with his comments about it, it's great he also try to help us as well and isn't just being cynically interested.

People who've reacted to this negatively are frustrated with the fact that he keeps talking about his sexuality instead of avoiding it when he clearly could've if he didn't wanna bring it up.

This wasn't an impromptu question about his sexuality where he was put on the spot, he clearly wanted to address it. It was never about forcing him to come out but calling him out on the fact that he enjoys the attention despite wanting his business private.

People shouldn't have to prove their sexuality imo, people say the same about Gaga but you believe it when she says it but not when he does

Hes the one that brings up the subject, CONSTANTLY.

Exactly, all the people talking about forced outing missed the mark.

what I wish came up more in this conversation is less what his sexuality is because I do not really care, but more how he avoids the question completely despite continuing to use queer aesthetics and the possibility that he might be queer for profit and notoriety

I understand your perspective, and I get what you mean, I just don’t think him speaking about it here is his way of relaunching rumors. He is speaking in a way that relates to the film he’s promoting and is addressing the way the public constantly discusses his sexual orientation. People online are always speculating and trying to figure out his sexuality, and I don’t think him commenting on that means he’s trying to relaunch rumors, he has a right to address what people say about him. And my overall feelings with all of it are just that it’s his sexuality, he can handle it however he wants. If that means he’s more comfortable addressing it without labels then good for him. That’s just my two cents

Well I know folks will say I shouldn't accuse him or doing it for buzz but tbh even when it wasn't related to his projects he was frequently "discussing it without discussing it" already.

And yes he's absolutely free to address rumors about him but I doubt he's just doing it for the sake of it and isn't aware of how he profits from it since so much of his buzz comes from it.

It's true folks will speculate whatever you do but to me it comes across as a strategy cause with cryptic answers he knows many will try to decipher each one and that's why I think it's the best way to relaunch it again and again.

It's absolutely true he can handle it how he wants just like folks can perceive it how they want and them feeling pandered/ exploited by a PR plan that make what was sometimes a burden for them a "mediatic edge/ buzz giver" for others... That will always provokes reactions which he saw many times and kept doing.

Well thanks for your 2 cents, it's interesting lol.
