Everything is expensive, raising a family here is unafforable, and housing shortages compared to how much immigrants they are bringing isn't sustainable. I really want to leave and move to the US (or another country, or even province). As long as you have a decent job in the US, you will make more money for the same Canadian job and you will get healthcare and benefits from the organization. Also, they have a lot more places with decent weather and cheaper housing. Toronto used to be a city for middle class people but it's slowly becoming more and more elitist I find. My own neighbourhood in Toronto 10 years ago was quite humble. Now, we have smaller houses being torn down and literally replaced with mansions, driving up all the costs in the area. One driveway will have a Dodge Grand Caravan and they might have 3 kids, the house beside them will have a Porsche and the people who live there are rarely actally living there. Its really strange and sad at the same time. Let's trade countries then! Cuz I'm trying to get out asap before sh*t really hits the fan. This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss. You really think this is a place to be ? Why ? Because America has brainwashed the rest of the world for so long that it is rightfully the leading country of the world ? A lead straight into hell. Despite all of americas issues it’s still far from the worst country on the planet and still desirable for many ppl, even for some who already live in first world countries. Imagine having to be a multi millionaire just to afford a little shack over your head if you live in a major city like Canada. RIP

But I'm just saying if the alternatives are worse what's the point of trying to change? Also there will always be problems under any system which we also have to remember. Change political style u simply substitute old problems for new ones. Every system and political strategy has pros and cons no matter what. I think ppls expectations of what another party would do are often unrealistic. It never ends up being as good as they think it is when another party is given a chance to try their strategy

So in my opinion, he gets no credits for that. Allowing refugees and immigrants is good if it's done with proper long term planning. If the people who are already living in Canada are suffering due to the high costs and housing shortages, bringing in more people into the country is not a good idea. Also, Canada has high taxes and lower incomes compared to the US + major metropolitan areas like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver are very expensive in general. I have seen your posts about you wanting to move to Canada from the US but I have no idea why. Sure, your people of power are bonkers, but you can move to another state in which your morals align with and there are so many cities to choose from where your Winters aren't so brutal. Essentially, Americans have a lot more to choose from and Canadians feel stuck between a few cities/provinces. Canada's taxes aren't actually that high compared to a typical developed Nation and is in fact actually on the lower end... and while they are slightly higher across the board than in the US and median incomes are slightly higher there, most studies have shown a typical person ends up spending about as much on healthcare costs as they save on any lower taxes or slightly higher income. The gap isn't huge for most people as far as taxes and income goes What's really weighing Canada down ultimately comes back to high cost of housing sucking up all our income. I think that's the single biggest issue they need to solve in order to make cost of living and living standards improve. I don't think incomes or taxes is the problem. It's the housing crisis

Can someone bulletpoint his pros and cons? It comes down to disappointment that he has not done much for some of the big issues that matter to Canadians. - He has not done much about the housing crisis which is by far the biggest source of strain and economic deterioration over the last 15 years. Way bigger factor than any general inflation or stagnant wages - Is not doing much to improve Canada's productivity which for some time has been lagging other developed Countries. In time this can cause a countries living standards to drop. We used to rank much higher in our GDP Per Capita more or less tying with the US now we are always in the low top 20 lists - Many argue he keeps increasing spending everytime the budget improves but isn't prioritizing what stuff matters most - yes he's very forward thinking when it comes to LGBT and women's right etc but Canada already had all these rights anyway even under the previous conservative government so his support is more symbolic. In terms of the law his support hasn't mattered for a whole lot of changes other than maybe legalizing weed and a couple other things - he accepts a lot of immigrants and refugees which is great but tying back to the housing problem, there hasn't been sufficient planning to accommodate so many people. Whether it's reducing red tape to speed up construction or getting involved in building directly, it has not kept pace with the needs - In his first couple years he had no boldness. He never took strong stances for any issue and seemed to be trying to please everyone at once and avoiding all controversy. That I myself got irritated with. However to be fair and give credit where it's due and there are positives from him in my opinion: - I may not like the amount of spending increases his government has done but at least they aren't in useless things in my opinion. I do wish sometimes he went more to the root of the problem but nevertheless many innitiatives like $10/day childcare, higher prescription coverage and a few social inhancements I think we're praise worthy - he never has divisive or hate speech and is uniting of all peoples in the way he talks - I think he does better than most governments at looking at both sides of an issue. He may not always be business friendly like Right Wingers like and like-wise he may not always be on workers side for everything either, but in my opinion it's never good to always be on the side of one group of people and disregard the needs of the other as all people and parts of the economy are necessary and work together. I think he's good at being balanced --------------------- Ultimately a lot of this is just opinion. But it's a general breakdown of why I think some people like him while others dislike him
