The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, claims that the authorities in Chisinau do not exclude the most pessimistic scenarios of the escalation of the war in Ukraine and the possibility that the Republic of Moldova will be attacked. The statements were made during the meeting with the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, in Bucharest.

"We remain the closest to the Republic of Moldova. We will not abandon you, no matter what scenario we will all end up with in this unfortunate war waged by Russia against Ukraine" , said Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.

When he says "We remain the closest to the Republic of Moldova. We will not abandon you, no matter what scenario we will all end up with in this unfortunate war waged by Russia against Ukraine" he is pretty much already taking a risk, to a greater extend than one would expect from him.

Iohannis is not known for being a risk-taker, he actually is very calculated and careful in choosing his words.
