rasclautmangos 2,744
I've made it to Church girl so far. I LOVE the album. Alien Superstar is my favorite, could have used a Gaga feature.
Leoj305 3,151
Giving me Drake house album….. but with Beyoncé’s post self titled voice on top. I guess I have to listen to it a couple of times. I listened to lemonade and self titled and those records were really good. So I’m comparing it to her recent work.
ajmsamuel 1,442
ok first listen: is a good background music album for workout, for voguin, for a chic party. that being said, you really dont need catchy melodies or even catchy sounds for that. and is not bad... but that makes the music very forgettable for general people. but... shes beyonce, and ppl will remember this album because it was made of her. highlights for me: cozy, energy-break my soul and pure honey. is a solid album, but the rest ones are pretty forgettable kindest regards
killme89 1,287
Well I was curious because BMS was dance/house inspired so I wanted to give the album a listen…but what a boring album. I’m sorry that was a yawn fest. I feel like I got baited with the whole house thing because there’s nothing house on this album…disappointed. Chromatica remains my fav dance pop record of the last few years.
Way0ut 437
Some of y’all are so BORING. This is FUN. Lighten up.
tyler k 5,033
those of you saying this isn't dance music or that it's Bey's "Drake house album" .... literally what did yall listen to?!?! this album is dance music through and through, BMS was def not an indication of the sound of the project overall - it's far more influenced by ballroom, disco, funk with an underground twist. it's so experimental. the beats here are absolutely INSANE. mmmy name ~isn't~ aliceee

It’s SO different because lemonade was storytelling heavy and self titled was a bit of a bridge from old Beyoncé to a new one so there was something for everyone. This one is actually more like The Gift which is why I love it so much.

Tbh I think they’re thinking it’s not “pop” enough which, true, it isn’t hahaha most of these gals prob don’t listen to dance music, I fear. Like Gaga has yet to do a true DANCE album. She’s masterfully done dance pop but she hasn’t really jumped fully into the dance umbrella genre yet so if that’s their basis for dance music then I get where they’d be like wait what lol this album is straight up dance and hip hop and disco and funk and soul and ballroom. No crumbs of pop except for stuff like Plastic off the Sofa (which still slaps hard).

There’s only one , funk house. Aka the most boring of them all. This ain’t a dance or house record at all.
yeowchyYeowch 4
Unfortunately, I didn't like it at all, it sounded way too try-hard to me. Will all that disco imagery I hoped to hear something more danceable, joyful or happy, even. But it had no depth or sensuality, it felt very restrainedly harsh, superficial and anhedonic. (?) Most songs felt like they had no progression and took you nowhere, I can't imagine myself dancing to them, it would be like dancing to "lo-fi beats to chill and study to". Also, the lyrics were painfully cringy to me — the whole ego-centrism of it all. Kinda vulgar, but not sexy? Perhaps miss Beyonce had gotten too rich and famous to create something soulful and sincere or I'm just too picky and critical?
Joshie 720
Kevin Aviance - Cunty, is sampled in Pure/Honey for those saying does anyone even say "cunty hunty". QUEER EDUCATION. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYTuzFNZftY
Kim Petrus 304
I just finished the first listen and I really liked it! I like the way she has been able to make such diverse tracks inspired by all black dance music genres but make something cohesive with it at the same time as a whole album. her vocals are ON POINT After the first listen, I feel like the album is a bit too long. Some songs could have been skipped or for a deluxe edition. For now I really noticed I’m That Girl / alien superstar / Thique / All Up My mind / America Has A Problem / pure/honey BMS is growing in me, and I love the transition with energy !! Edit : let’s also notice how good the mixing is !! How the backing vocals are huge and beautiful ! Especially on alien Superstar
