Dancing Shadow

Its not bad at all, i can tell a lot of effort was put into this.

it has elements i hope people build off of...

but that being said its not my kind of music, meaning i love it but it wont get stuck in my head and i wont be playing it

"I hope that you will love me in this way For who I am—not then—but for today"

For Beyonce, whose material was always very PG, to approach middle age as a married mother and suddenly be dropping f words and phrases like "bomb p****y" was a bit...jarring to say the least.

I only think the lyrics are tacky and cringy. But I don’t like the way u said « as a married mother »

You can be sexual and sexy even as a married mother. Let’s stop. People never criticize a sexy man who’s a married father of 4 or 6. So think about that..

I'm also a woman. You're entitled to share your opinion, which I disagree with, but I don't appreciate your generalization that "most" women agree with the ageism and misogyny you're projecting by saying a woman can't or shouldn't be sexual when they are past a certain age or are married or have children.

And it’s pretty sad. Life should be fun there are no rules. We’re all sexual beings, let yourself express your sexuality. Doesn’t matter if you’re a divorcee, 55, with 4 kids. So dumb. Do people say that when Brad Pitt does a sex scene in his movies? Cause if u don’t criticize him then it’s hypocrisy lol. Same for other male singers, many are married with kids and talk about sex. Sex is sex, it’s not exclusive to your 20s and 30s and then if u talk about it you should be shamed. Medieval thinking

Ma’am… :messga:

Sam Smith covered that song, the original is by Donna Summer. Not making fun of you because you maybe weren’t aware, but reading that legit made me spill my drink. :laughga:

No you misunderstood. I was correcting someone else that said omg SUMMER RENAISSANCE samples Sam Smith. I *DID* spit my drink out. I corrected them saying Donna Summer sample, clearly not an album for the Gen Z as they think it’s Sam Smith. Dead

I gave the album another listen and my negative opinion on it did not change, but I thought of a very positive thing — if such a popular well-liked artist as Beyonce wants to try something "new" and takes risks, that's a very good precedent.

I'm so tired of that current sound pop-music has since about 2014, can't wait for it to die this decade. But I doubt that we will develop an interesting new style soon, since the world is going to **** a bit.

As in visuals for the new songs from act2? Or as in visuals for act1?

visuals for act 1, like Black Is King  was visual album to released the year before The Lion King: The Gift album.

Ahhh man I really wish I liked it. I love B and there are some moments in different songs that are great, but on the whole I just can’t get into it. Maybe I’ll revisit it at some point - I’ve seen a few people say they enjoyed it more on further listens, but nothing really intrigued me enough to want to go back to it.

I’m still looking forward to seeing what the next two acts of this project will bring though. I love that Beyoncé manages to create a real moment around her releases. Even though I don’t vibe with the music this time around, it’s always an exciting time when she puts out new stuff.

What I'm taking issue with isn't her being sexual at her age in general but rather how she's suddenly got like this in the last 10 years or so, especially with Lemonade onwards. I wouldn't have a problem with it if she'd always been like this but seeing her do this after so many years of keeping things clean is a shock to the system and it can come across insincere and you have to wonder if she's doing it to seem cooler and nothing more than that. Trust me, I have no problem with women being sexual in their music. I love female rap and listen to some of the dirtiest music by women. But I'm ok with that as that's who they've been from the start and I can see why they don't want to stop as they become older and become wives and mothers. But that's authentic. Being the good girl and then suddenly going bad (when you're well past the teenager to adult transition and therefore have no excuse to rebel) just seems like a marketing ploy.

Yeah, I am fun at parties because I don't launch into feminist discussion, obviously. I didn't say we all needed to have the same opinion. And yes, I do find it distasteful when male rappers, especially ones who are married and/or have children, continue to disrespect women in their lyrics and talk about have indiscriminate sex, whether it's true or just what the public want. I'm a strong believer that your music should develop and reflect how you've changed over time. Beyonce used to be very secretive about her relationship with Jay back in the day, she even denied dating him and they were famously lowkey about their life together for years. But around the time she got pregnant, she suddenly wanted their personal life up for sale, which I always found weird. Just like what I said in my response above about always being the good girl in her music to going more explicit further down the line is weird. I've never seen someone go from wanting privacy to wanting publicity. The changes are jarring, that's all.

I mean Baby Boy's verses are basically sexual moaning and that's from her debut but yeah. I respect your opinion anyways

She said its a 3 part music journey, so i can’t imagine that means one is visual. It would need to be 3 albums, or 1 album and 2 EP’s or whatever it could be.

she said '3 act project' not music journey. so act 2/3 can be visuals or documentary

My delulu ass thought act 2 would be a visual and act 3 would be a big live performance.

I think this is a great record - dance music is my favourite genre so it's really up my street.

Pure / Honey and Summer Renaissance are some of the best songs I've ever heard to be honest. The rhythms, vocals, song structure - I love how fun they are and how they evolve - every 15 seconds there's something different. They're also extremely gay which is most pleasing to me. The I Feel Love sample is exquisitely used on the latter. They'll likely end up as two of my very favourite songs of the year.

Plastic Off The Sofa is also lush, ditto Virgo's Groove. I also love the afrobeats on Cozy and Move. The vocals, songwriting and production are top notch.

It'll probably become my favourite record from her as I love dance music so much - even though I love B'Day, 4 and the self titled too.

Although I would also love a visual as it's Beyoncé, I don't mind too much as I admire her commitment to trying something new. The last two records and The Gift were all visual albums, so I respect her choice to go back to an era where a record's visuals were simply the cover and a booklet. The CD booklet has some wonderful photos too!

This album is so bad… at being trash. Its the pure definition of a really ****ing good music. The vocals? Beyond. The instrumentals? Bye. The influences of Janet, Janelle Monae, Michael and Donna Summer?? The PC music influences?? Wow. The lyrics are vibes are just pure fun like wow.  Ive collapsed and condensed into a small black hole. This is def prob her best album (Lemonade is still right there but hng). Could it be a pop bible?? This is def an AOTY contender for me w Crash by Charli

Beyonce snapped too hard
