sillynate 6,170
I wanna listen so bad but I firmly believe we’ll be getting a visual companion on release and I saw Lemonade and Black is King before listening to their respective albums so I wanna do that again
Ziggy 11,459
I overall like it a lot but wish she’d have let the songs breathe a bit more. What Lemonade did well was that song to song she was careful to let listeners breathe a bit with either a ballad or something a little bit less condensed. These beats are pretty dense and heavy and fast front to back so it’s hard to appreciate any one song all that much even when they’re by and large all REALLY solid or great. The other thing is I’m gonna need her to give a little more vocally. She’d give runs but did she give soul? Did I feel her in the music all that much? Not really which is a shame since I felt on Lemonade you REALLY felt that. I know she’s doing it because easier vocals are easier to tour on but just don’t perform the songs. That’s fine, but SANG on the album because I think that is also what contributes to my first point. It doesn’t mean ultra complicated runs or something but let me feel like I’m seeing YOU which I think is something Chromatica achieves better on songs like 1000 Doves. overall, great great beats. Individually awesome songs, but as an album it doesn’t quite come together for me though idk if she wanted it to as self titled and lemonade did so it could just be a me thing. It’s very much a streaming era album (i.e. a lot of hits designed to be added to playlists and such). EDIT AFTER A SECOND LISTEN: So the broad points remain (more things I come to want from Beyoncé because I adore when she brings it home with a ballad or irreplaceable type mid tempo song) BUT honestly you need more than one listen if you’re someone who gets really hyped for stuff like me. It’s a very overwhelming first listen front to back imo because it’s SO dance and goes all over the place and doesn’t really wait a breath. But basically every track is at least really good with most of them being great or incredible slices of dance.
Crescent Bloom 1,067
Can someone confirm if Virgo's Groove and Alien Superstar are the best tracks on the album? This website, which is a very popular music-rate website, has those two tracks with the highest scores. https://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/beyonce/renaissance/
lilboyblue 4,927
BMS grew on me over time though so probably the case with the rest of the album. Most tracks here feel like classic Beyoncé uptempos, over-all feel is groovy R&B than dance/disco? so far: Alien Superstar 👏 Plastic Off the Sofa (the harmonies at the end wow) 👏 Summer Renaissance 👏

Her vocals are amazing but the lyrics are often the generic stuff about being rich and sexy. It's also well produced and very ballroom vibe but there a few tracks that don't bring much to the table and even make the whole a bit repetitive. It was by no means SUPER strong or experimental but bits kinda bring that, but it’s mostly hammering beats not really ethereal or ambient

It would have been much better if it were like 2 minutes shorter probably. Soft, soothing, and succulent
