I mean the song is pretty dark maybe it still hits too close to home for her to sing

No, she said they're about what they really are: fame being a prison and her sexual assault. Stans like to think Gaga hates them and see drama and double meanings everywhere

It’s pretty obvious Fun Tonight, Plastic Doll, 10 pigeons and Love Me Right are about little monsters and fame. Regardless of what she says.

No popstar is gonna outright say: I wrote a song about my fans destroying my mental health. That’s career ending.

perfect illusion was pitched to her by kevin parker/tame impala, it's not about the fans

you can tell when gaga has written a song about something about her, they're specific and detailed whilst songs like PI are vague

As @iku iku ikusaid, Fun Tonight, Plastic Doll, 1000 Doves, Love Me Right, Replay, Perfect Illusion and more are at least in part either about or referencing Little Monsters.

I believe her songs have multiple meanings and even she has said that herself. If you really listen to the lyrics in these songs and have witnessed the amount of turmoil her fans have caused her over the years, you can definitely put the pieces together and understand these are at least in part about little monsters.

Perfect Illusion was more about her ex-management (could be aimed towards fans at that point too). You may say that it was a demo that Kevin brought to the studio, however Gaga made the song hers. She made the lyrics connect to references throughout her life.

She's literally talking about T*oy C*rter in Perfect Illusion.
"I don't need eyes to see, I felt you touchin' me, high like amphetamine (sometimes switched with 'feels like I'm finally free', maybe you're just a dream. That's what it means to crush, now that I'm waking up. I'm over the show, yeah at least now I know."

It was a very clever point of view about her ex-management and how she's over the show, and now she knows it wasn't love. It was a perfect illusion. He used her for all he thought she was worth and then left her.

Fun Tonight is about her showing us that she screams in pain (FiveFoot2) and yet all the "fans" seem to want her to do is play (perform and slay non-stop). She literally broke her hip because of us. She was so dedicated, she danced and danced until she couldn't get up.
"feeling something that I can't explain, think it's a wound I still entertain, I'd do anything to numb the flame, I guess I'm just on fire these days"

"Yeah I can see it in your face, you don't think I pull my weight, maybe it's time for us to say goodbye. I'm feeling the way that I'm feeling with you, I'm not having fun tonight. You love the paparazzi, you love the fame, even though you know it causes me pain. I feel like I'm a prison hell, stick my hand through the steel bars and yell"

She's literally telling us how she feels about us. What's not to get?

i do feel that 1000 doves is about us in a way. She'll always be Mother Monster who wants to protect us from the big bad world. Its in her nature. We will always be her Little Monsters no matter how old we get and she'll always love us more than we'll ever understand but we have to meet her halfway and see that she has bad days too. We have to be there for her just as shes always been there for us.

Which deep down i totally get. It saddens me that there are some so called "monsters" who just see her as a performing monkey in heels they can use to demand things. They take her pure unconditional love for granted and use it as a weapon instead. She owes us nothing.

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

So glad that you that you brought that up. Id like to remind those who see her as a performing monkey in heels that she has been nothing but good to us. She loves us so very much and yet some of us take that love for granted. She was in mind numbing terrible pain and yet she pushed herself night after night. If you watch the old BTWB footage, you can see how stiff she was because she was hurting so bad. Even after her hip finally broke on stage, she pushed herself to pretend like nothing was wrong. if that isnt love then i dont know what is.

exactly. I dont think she ever intended for "us" to happen but once she saw all of the lost and broken kids, maternal instinct kicked in and she created little monsters as a place for us to be ourselves unapologetically. That bond we share is unbreakable.

sorry but PI is a reach :smh: somebody else wrote most of the song for her, it's so vague that it can relate to any part of her life. she even had to clarify it wasn't about taylor since they split the year before

i'd say Fun Tonight is way more likely about troy than the fans

mother, what must i do?

I always thought perfect illusion was about T Kinney, tho of course she will always deny that and say it was about social media. And Fun Tonight is about pr pro C Carino. Two of her ex's that she would never name in a song but leave it unclear. 1,000 doves sounds also like an intimate conversation, not about fame or fans, but something personal to a lover or close friend even. Plastic doll sounds like someone has been dating and her dates have preconceived notions and expect her to be their doll. It's not about her fans specifically, tho many of her fans also have preconceived notions of how she should dress and act, fans can't play with her like a doll, like her doll. (Tho technically fans can play with her doll because there is an actual Monster High Lady Gaga doll.) These songs are all about more intimate and personal relationships, thus more relatable to everyone, with their own personal relationships. They are not about the singer/fan dynamic, in my opinion. You are entitled to your own opinion, but I think it's a stretch.  And maybe they are not about her ex's either, but some fictional relationship or dramatic poetry, or maybe they are exactly what she said they are.

Sorry, I don't agree with you both.

Perfect Illusion was her first big come back to a commercial independent release post ARTPOP. The era that she almost ended her career over. Of course she was making a statement about it.

It's so clear that the song is about her ex-management. But we can agree to disagree.  The music video also shows it is possibly about the fans, and how they weren't there for her.

There are other songs like Million Reasons & Sinners Prayer that is about Taylor.

I personally don't believe Gaga gave C*rino the time of day, and NONE of the songs on Chromatica were about him, but again, we can agree to disagree.

I do agree with you however about Plastic Doll. It's definitely about the fans expectations about her. I also am aware of the Monster High dolls, I have 2 :vegas:
