In my opinion, it looks like The Fame was Gaga’s ‘Madonna’, Born This Way was Gaga’s ‘Like A Prayer’, and the most interesting thing to me I realized is that ARTPOP seems to be Gaga’s ‘Erotica’. This is my OPINION so don’t be rude. I feel like ARTPOP had a bad reputation the same way Erotica did. The GP in 1992 deemed Madonna to be some evil wicked witch of the west when she released Erotica. And when ARTPOP came out the GP deemed her as over. So because of this I see some similarities between the 2 album eras. And even Bedtime Stories VS. Joanne; the stripped back era after the controversial era.Just my opinion. Make of it what u will. I love both of these queens and not saying Gaga copying Madonna. I just find similarities between their album eras and aesthetics. During Erotica, Madonna was hated because of the albums' sexual themes and visuals. It was truly ahead of its time if you think about how nowadays, music and visuals are very sexual. During ARTPOP, Gaga was hated because people were hyped as hell for the album but 95% of people ended up being very disappointed by it, and Gaga was very overexposed the years before and people needed a break from her. ARTPOP was not really controversial, it was just panned and her behavior at the time was criticized, but she didn't come close to being cancelled over it. I think Joanne and Bedtime Stories are super comparable, in that they were both kinda just wet fart eras that showed the artists toning themself down after the backlash rather than fighting against it, and ultimately didn't add much to their legacy. I would say ASIB was more like Gaga's ROL, not in that it was her magnum opus musically, but that it totally reset her career as a critical darling respected by the GP. Stop making the reincarnation thing once the older person is still alive. It's a bit offensive imho. 3.
