I'm thinking that maybe everything is in Ferrara's character's mind. It would make sense that these are the Barbies she grew up with since all the looks are very vintage/old school Barbie. Somehow she's probably imagining them to cope with her own reality as an adult (work, depression, relationships, etc.) and it makes her feel like when she was a little girl again. Also, I think the majority of the basic Ken dolls are blonde. Some old ones had very similar hair color to Ryan's hair. Can I vanish into a cheeseburger pizza? hELXIG 43,050 Posted June 29, 2022 Share Posted June 29, 2022 I read a theory that the movie is going to actually follow the actors who play Ken and Barbie, and it's something like they are getting older and still trying to run with the Barbie/Ken shtick and it's getting awkward (hence the bleach blonde, ageing Ken). And think about it, they could have cast anyone as Ken, but they chose Ryan for a reason. If that's so, it has potential to be hilarious! Either way, looking at the cast and the other people involved it's probably going to be very different to what people think! I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
