Wage growth and productivity growth were still a little anemic... Also interest rates were at emergency lows for over 10 years plus the Fed was printing a lot of money via QE to pump up the financial system. A truly solid economy does not need that much life support for so many years to keep a 2% to 3% annual growth expansion going If the economy was truly in a good place pre-pandemic, the economy should have been on fire and facing high inflation with money that cheap for that long. Things were already slowing down before covid thanks to Dump's policies then he (and every other world leader ) completely dropped the ball with covid. Other than the trade wars I don't think Trump did anything to slow the economy per say tbh. He neither enhanced it or slowed it.
