I just can’t imagine going through life believing that democrats and corporations hate gay people so much and are sitting around debating how to make our own lives miserable. I don’t even believe most republicans believe what you are saying. Sorry if you’ve experienced such treatment to get you to that point. No one deserves that. Where are the dems making noise about this, where's the "liberal media" making noise about this? Last time I checked, figurehead of "liberal" reporting and super-donor to the Democrats, Bill Maher, was literally arguing that all of this was ok, and that we're all just hysterical, alarmist and obsessed about political correctness. Where are the political challengers to plans like these (that are not only gaining ground in Texas, but the entirety of the USA). How the hell does the Federal Government of the USA say nothing about states employing hostile Anti-LGBT legislation that is teetering VERY closely to the borders of actual genocide according the UN conventions? Where are the Dems standing up for trans people's rights, now that Ohio Republicans have mandated mandatory genital checks for children athletes, to make sure none of them are trans? Where are the dems at in Florida, where the Republicans are trying to remove gender-affirming healthcare for adults from medicare? The people some who ARE making noise about this online are either queer, progressive Dems, who are just as disillusioned with their own party and its Manchinification, or trans influencers/social media content creators, LGBTQ+ people who live in these states and now are literally making arrangements to flee the hostile environment by moving out of state, or going back into the closet if they don't have the financial resources. I don’t want to minimize what you’re saying other than to say that there are political groups who are fighting these issues and a lot of corporate America that you seem to dismiss as only showing up in pride parades provide benefits and protections to LGBT employee even when the states (or country) do not. They’re saying corporate democrats enable the right-wing by allowing them to control the national conversation because they don’t actually fight for LGBT issues. They love the appearance of being progressive, but their priorities are not really with defending the LGBTQ communities… their priorities are with defending their donors and preserving the cash flow for their reelection. I don’t understand this. I think there’s an argument to be made that corporations have too much power in politics, I just don’t get how that ties in to how they support LGBT communities. Wouldn’t the argument you’re making be that the largest corporations are really antilgbt and democratic politicians are also antilgbt to protect themselves financially?
