monstertoronto 10,051
I feel die hard Katy fans either already went in the early legs, and sold out the early shows more in advance, or bought tickets for dates already (like I have tix for later this summer) which now could account for the 50% sales over the later dates, and they now rely on the casual Vegas customers looking for something to do to fill out the rest of the seats last minute. Remember this isn’t a tour coming to peoples cities across the country with fresh audiences at each date. It’s a king running residency which requires people to travel if they don’t live in Vegas. So it’s going to be a more disparate crowd the longer it plays. And the fact that they added dates shows it’s still worth extending.
dit 46,417
She needs a recent hit. Her last real hit was Chained to the Rhythm in 2017 and Never Really Over wasnt big in the US. Whether we like to admit it or not...hits do help sell shows. It does not mean you need to have hits all the time and regularly but every few years it REALLY helps a lot if an artist gets a hit here and there. Like look at Gaga, she's already known as a touring force with great stage presence so she iwll always sell well but her hits also help! since ARTPOP era ended she's only really had like 4 proper hits (Million Reasons, Shallow, Always Remember Us This Way and Rain on Me). These 4 hits have helped sustain the GPs interest in her regularly and then they check her old catalog and feel nostalgia and remember how awesome she is and want to watch her live again! Also Gaga diversified herself and is starring in big films which also help get attention to her entire brand. Katy hasn't done ANY of this. No recent hits, no succesful films...she's really stuck and because of that she will continue to have unsold shows etc.. but that does not mean she is over. It just means she needs a little refresher in the eyes of the public. Literally just one hit every 3 years is enough. I hope she gets one soon. It's been almost 5 years now. RichAssPiss 4,915
Her number one career problem is that she aged out of the youth demo and has never successfully convinced adults that she is a serious artist. So, she's stuck literally playing a child's toy approaching 40. Singing the songs she sang in her twenties for an audience who wants to reminisce about their twenties. The production of the show does look top notch though. She has excellent costume and prop designers. I will giver her that.
