As per usual, he didn't put context. Just pictures. Some people accuses him to be homophobic with this, while others said he criticizes brands/corporate wokeism for profit.

BUT EITHER WAY, this tweet clearly is trying to provoke.

Now, what do you think? :bradley:

By satirising this, it creates an unnecessary barrier between straight people and LGBT people since it constructs LGBT advocacy as a target for humour. It makes the straights go "here we go again!", which is not very constructive. It devalues the advocacy and trivialises the reasons why Pride month was given importance in the first place.

I'd say, even if he was not homophobic himself (which I do believe in), this was done in poor taste but it's not like Elon cares about being politically correct. What can we do?

Even some gays on my tl said "it's that time of month where brands make their pics rainbow *rolleyes emoji*" and what is wrong with that? Better a fake support (who said it's fake then?) than a real hate. I'm going to block him as we speak right now because I hate him.

The thing is, I actually think some of these people are not homophobic themselves. They're not irritated at gay people, they're irritated at the bandwagon behaviour. Still, I wish they could see past how Pride Month might be exploited and recognise the real positive changes this can bring. It increases visibility and it serves as a very powerful reminder that LGBTQ+ rights are human rights and that they are a real contribution to and valid part of our society.

Most people are just short-sighted I guess.

You are all dramatic, problematic and borderline insane.

June is when brands paint themselves rainbow for clout even when they've shown no support in the other 11 months.

How are you guys dramatising this tweet and reading so deep like PURE lunatics without stepping back and thinking "oh yeah, I sound insane"

I mean I despise him and Tesla DOES the same thing, but the criticism is valid (just not coming from him). I'm sick of megacorps faking support on their western social media accounts (notice that they don't do it for their Russian, Chinese or Arabic subsidiaries) for 1 month just to grab gays' money and to clean up their public image. And of course, they only started doing it when it was safe for them to do it. Where was all of this support 15, 20 or 30 years ago? F all of them, I don't like being treated like a wallet or an idiot.

I still remember that tweet from Disney 1 year ago claiming to support gay rights and then they just backed the "don't say gay" bill in the US. No, not okay at all.

Ah yes a hypocritical transphobic capitalist criticizing the exploitation of pride month, totally valid criticism!!! :bear:

There's  a lot to crititize about capitalism hijacking pride, but Musky can stfu because it's not his place to do that

Soft, soothing, and succulent

Y'all acting like us gays are a bunch of zombies who are attracted automatically to the corporations who put the rainbow flag on their socials this month. I think we all have a brain to say who actually supports the cause and who's not.

As long as this gives the Pride Month visibility and knowledge to other people, I'm fine. And don't let the homophobes fool you, they are not bother by the hypocrisy of these corporations lmao those are the same people who say "and where is the hetero pride month?111".

He’s a known (and proud) racist, so adding homophonic to the list doesn’t really shock me.

Crazy how he still has supporters

Yeah Rainbow Capitalism is kinda cringe,  but this year I’m changing my pfp on insta to a gaudy and annoying pride themed one… who said only brands could have all the fun 😛

I don’t want any non-LGBTQ+ person’s input about our community outside of being an ally. It is none of their business what inside jokes we have, nor are our struggles and opinions a part of their conversation.

It’s like a white person sharing a meme about how black people feel about certain topics during Black History Month: NONE of their business.
