jaXXXon 1,537
Shallow did NOT become a hit because of that rumored romance between the two as it was already a smash #1 single outside of the US in many, many countries long before that Oscar performance even took place. Top Gun has not been out for a week yet, only one weekend. And HMH didn't fall to #98 following the release of the movie. It rose an additional 11 spots internationally last week, are you trying to be funny?
Guest
Take my breath away has a beautiful ass melody. HMH is awkward sounding, it’s not bad but it’s awkward and inconsistent
hELXIG 42,871
I mean duh it's just a movie soundtrack song anyway. It'll generate a little buzz and fulfil it's purpose. Not every song is gonna be some huge hit I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
LilyLark 10,079
I mean, maybe you should give the movie/song a full tracking week? Top Gun dropped on Wednesday, with the majority of people seeing it this weekend/yesterday. Harry's House, in comparison, dropped on the 20th, so about 4 days earlier. Morphine Prince 105,156
The song is just not it. It's good, but nothing special. I legit haven't listened to it since it came out. Shallow wasn't my favorite at first but it quickly grew on me more and more and it just sounded like a hit. HMH is nothing of the sort.
Chromatix 2,735
"but now even after a week of the movie's release (which has been making record-shattering box office numbers), the song fell from its debut position of #82 to #98 on the Billboard 100 chart" gurl - check the facts first. Position 82 is from the tracking week May 6-12, then number 98 is position from week May 13-19, we still waiting for this week's Hot 100 to refresh (week 3: May 20-26). All three weeks mentioned are Top Gun's pre-release period. The first data showing impact of the movie will be published after its 4th week (May 27-June 2), so next Tuesday/Wednesday. Hyoha 1,613
The song is just not good enough. For a song to “be the next Shallow”, it has to be as good or better than Shallow…
