That's a huge progress.

Lately, there's a boat with 4-5 masked figures from China stop around the outlying island, **** is scary :neyde:

Oh sweet Jesus. If he's actually saying this aloud (and it sounds prepared, not like an off the cuff remark) that means some bad sh*t is going down with China and Taiwan behind the scenes. Because this is clearly a very public warning, and not coming from nowhere....

That said, I don't think China is dumb enough to do it. If they go after Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, half of Europe, Australia, and the US will all jump in on Taiwan's side.

It's not planned, it was while he was touring asian allies in the pacific. It was also clarified that he meant assistance, not US troops in Taiwan.

Listen.... I'm here for my country helping anyone who needs help as long as we have the resources to do so.

However, I'm so very tired of hearing that we're wrapped up in yet another conflict that I'm not sure has anything to do with us. We have enough trouble as it is with domestic terrorists going on shooting rampages every other day and 1/2 of our government parties trying to dismantle our democracy from the inside.

Well, tbf, the current Ukraine crisis isn't really on the US (tho the US is to blame or is involved in most sh*t, sigh). It's on Russia, and I'd argue Germany and France enabled the situation.  In 2005 everyone wanted to let Ukraine join NATO, but Merkel and Chirac blocked them...and then Ukraine begged Germany not do Nord Stream in 2008 after Russia invaded Georgia but Germany was like "nope, f*ck y'all, we're leaning in".

In reality, Russia is the only one responsible. Yes, it could have been prevented in hind-sight, but Russia in 2005 was seen as  more western-facing. People like Tony Blair thought Putin would be great for Russia & peace. It's so hard to predict these things so far out. Hell, even a few months ago the world thought Ukraine would fall quickly.

But yea, the west should have acted sooner, like 2008 & 2014.

Even though I'm completely ignorant on this particular situation, I don't doubt it in the least 🙃

Unfortunately, the west is always late on these issues but it's not their fault, they're just innocent.

Late in some aspects, but Ukraine wouldn't even be able to hold off the Russians without western military assistance.
