Because it could seem strange when there would be no context for this or if she didn't have the power over the story. Now it just seems like she is open and transparent and confident in her decision to destroy a maybe very expensive piece of clothing for having sex while wearing it. And it even fits her new persona as the hot girlfriend from an it-couple, so it doesn't really seem staged either whatsoever. I'd have trust issues when it comes to people working in Hollywood tbh.
