I read some where that Eurovision is stained with political issues hence the countries are voting for their neighbor countries or the countries that they like, is that true?

No,it's half true.

Some countries always give their neighbours points. (like the Scandinavian or the Eastern countries)

But still other countries win like Germany in 2010.

I see. I was kinda shocked because I know someone from Poland who stated that her country withdrew from the contest years ago because of the political issues in the contest and that her fellow countrymen see Eurovision as a stupid show.

or maybe they withdraw because they never reached the final for years :ohwell:

Yeah, most of them try to bring the contest to their own country, and if they can't, to their neighbour. This way they will somehow benefit from the tourists that come all over Europe and will most likely drive through their country, buying endless stuff.

Could be true.

Especially in the Eastern bloc

I'm new to Eurovision as I am originally from Asia, but what do you mean by "block voting"? Sorry for my lame question. :flop:

Yeah,

All the countries from East Europe give themselves pointes. For example Ukraine give 12 points to Russia and Russia gives 12 points.

The same happens in the Scandinavic countries. (for example:Sweden gives Norway 12 points,Norway gives Sweden 12 points.)

The things happen also in Beligum-Netherlands,Balkan states and in the Caucasus states.

Thank you for explaining. :) I see, kind of "vote for your friends" competition.

Just wondering, would it be cooler if the voting for Eurovision will be open worldwide? or I guess not because there will still be politics in there, lol.

I just hope that one day, Eurovision becomes free from these stupid politics and the people should cast their votes on the music and not on the closeness of the countries. I will continue watching the competitions for the next year as I become a fan of the contest. The set of songs for each year will tide me up while waiting for Gaga albums to come out SOON. :toofloppy:

No offense, but I don't want it to be worldwide, because it's a European thing. (But I think Australia could be part of the ESC :laughga:)
