Hold My Hand Vs. Take My Breath Away

Obviously Take My Breath Away because it's a classic and has had almost 4 decades to sink in. Hold My Hand has been out for less than a week. We also have yet to see the movie and see how it fits in there.

Take my breath away is a classic. I don't see Hold My Hand becoming that kind of a classic, but I'm not sure it needs to be. It will do well enough I think. Hopefully it absolutely smashes for the moment because I love seeing Gaga do well.

We can say what we want about HMH but it stands out compared to other songs currently charting. It’s performing well on iTunes for low streaming numbers and not fully impacting radio yet. It is definitely a grower and the GP will stand for it. 

To answer the question, both songs have different meanings to me but I love them.

I think comparing songs like this is kind of fruitless to be honest. Aside from the fact that they're both Top Gun songs, they're both very different songs. I guess you could say that HMH is "80s inspired," but even then, that's a very vague and generic comparison to make to TMBA.

Also, when comparing newer songs to older songs, most of the time, the older songs are going to win because of how iconic they've become over the decades.
