Eido 3,676
4 hours ago, Admin said: Again, this isn’t about celebrities, it’s about YOU. You say that NFT concerts should be stopped because they are bad for the environment yet you have no problem going to events that are much worse. Makes no sense. Your examples are flawed anyway. Why are you comparing cars to private jets? What you’re doing right now is like critisizing someone for driving a car while driving a car yourself lol Cryptos, cryptomining and NFT are way much worse There is a difference as live concerts are polluting during a single moment When just cryptomining is having effects on the long term. You might argue that it is also on the long term but it is not as to mining, use of Cryptos and NFTs you have to use dozens and dozens of high end GPUs (which use rare metals) to "mine" something that isn't even real to buy something that is not even present in the physical world. It uses a ginormous amount of power and create a ginormous equivalent amount of carbon print. These are facts. So maybe you are so adamant about this subject because you are into NFTs and that's on you. But don't prevent people from critizing this whole thing, it's on them. As to "wHy DoN't YoU SaVe ThE WoRLd tHeN?". Here is a talk about prevention, by stopping the use of cryptos we can PREVENT the earth from being even worse than the GIEC planned. And you don't know this person so you don't know what they try to do in their everyday life to make things a bit better. BUT he is not wrong when he says this is also the responsibility of people with influence (political, entertainment, others) to make things right, and that way it will contribute even more to saving our planet. Because spoiler alert : they have influence. And if it means less live concerts then so be it. Periodt.

Every single part of touring is having a huge impact on the environment. Especially with huge artists like Gaga. You simply can’t argue against that. Yes, touring is amazing for fans. But this accessibility to touring is one of the prime examples for the excess society we live in and the high cost of our sacred privileges.
BornAsUnic0rn 2,098
12 hours ago, Eido said: There is a difference as live concerts are polluting during a single moment That is naive. Traveling the world with a group of probably 100+ people. In private planes, jets and tour busses. Shipping a stage production around the world that takes days to build and pack up again for 3 hours of entertainment in a city, just to set it up days later in another country. Costumes being shipped around, people traveling simply for fittings. The list goes on. The environmental impact global touring has is not just „a single moment“. It‘s months if not years of constant pollution for as you said „a single moment“. As I said previously, touring is one of the prime examples of living excessively without thinking about the consequences. It‘s a fact that touring reached a point where it is simply not sustainable and it‘s reaching a highly critical point ethically. And everyone knows it, the only reason it’s being done like this is because that is simply where the money is in the music industry. We can‘t keep all these privileges of our affluent society we love without radical changes in the way we view this accessibility to travel & entertainment. You can talk about how bad NFT‘s are for the environment, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t huge problems with the way concerts are done now. Also NFT‘s are way younger than touring is, yet the probability to get NFT‘s carbon-neutral is way higher than to get this form of global touring anywhere close to environmentally at least tolerable.
