Teletubby 150,081
Singer Dolly Parton recently endorsed a particular product on social media, and her fans aren’t happy about it. On Apr. 11, the Jolene singer shared a message about NFTs on Twitter. Some fans weren’t satisfied by expressing their disappointment in Dolly Parton on Twitter. Many in Parton’s comment section mentioned the environmental impact NFTs have. It requires a huge amount of energy to create and store these cryptocurrencies, and most people see it as a waste. They took to Reddit to discuss the country star promoting NFTs, and they shared a lot of strong opinions. One Reddit user created a thread titled, “Again I ask, what celebrity is currently disappointing you with NFT/crypto endorsements?” with a screenshot of Parton’s tweet. “This is making me take Jolene’s side,” one fan joked in the comments, while another wrote, “Dolly no. Look at me dolly, this isn’t you!! Please dolly no!” source source "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy
bionic 50,107
Poor Dolly probably has no idea what an NFT actually is Just like the rest of us. But all celebs should be held responsible for (not) doing their research before agreeing partnerships. Sorry Dolly but this is a no from me
Leblanc 2,454
Is it just me who wonders how many people who preach these environmental impact issues on twitter actually do anything themselves to better the cause or just wanna criticise and take the moral highground while doing so because they think its infallible. We should always hold corporations accountable to those environmental issues first instead of normal people, I don't see a problem with it. Those corporations systematically benefit from man power of capitalism, they should pay the prize for damaging our planet.

People can definitely hypocritical when it comes to these issues, and I hate this whole "big corporations emit X emissions!!!!" shifting of all responsibility. But at the same time, I would much rather a hypocrite stopped someome else doing something wrong, than just everyone continues doing wrong. The only thing that can stop celebrities doing bad things is if its bad for publicity, and we need to let them know that we don't support it.

Except that it's consumers continued support of these corporations that only increases and sustains their environmental impact. It's a very complicated issue and I'm not even remotely the most environmentally conscious person but it's a bit of a scapegoat to put all blame on the corporation when every consumer likely continues to purchase, support and contribute to the problem. If you actually want change then it'll take a lot of people voting with their wallets to do so. Not saying that's always a viable option however, most of us are living paycheck to paycheck anyway. Like I said complicated, I just don't like virtue signalling online for the sake of it. Coven Season

If the issue is the bad thing they're doing then why is it more of an issue what the celebrity is doing than the hypocrite, yeah I understand that they're promoting something and have a far reach or whatever but policing them and not the accusatory people is not how you stop said problem. It could be damaging to encourage a culture where the people who point fingers succeed by diverting the attention away from their own misdeeds. The problem is capitalism in itself. We've already seen big companies act like they care about the environment and switching to vegan products but that doesn't solve sh*t because these items are still mass produced and overproduced with a lot of waste and pollution. Blaming individuals is useless because we could all switch to metal straws overnight and capitalism will also adapt to that and create waste and environmental hazard anyway. We need to get rid of the sh*t system. Costumers are forced to comply at the end of the day because what else can we do? So the least we can do is call it out and fight against it even if we're forcibly participating in it because there's no other way to survive. Everyone does bad things (the whole let he without sin cast the first stone thing). If you believe that, go ahead I can't really argue with it. But still, should we never call out anyone over anything? Just because I use some single-use plastics for example, does that mean I shouldn't call someone out if they litter?
