Like even the promo videos for the song were so incredibly misleading like the funeral she held for her hair.

I've consistently listened and enjoyed Katy Perry's music but she has yet to make anything that doesn't sound the same. Literally you can shuffle any random combination of songs and they would sound like they could be from the same album. Witness was her chance to revamp but she only revamped her image (in an incredibly unbearable way) and the music stayed the same (albeit worse lyrics)

Before Prism she was working on darker bops amid her divorce, but ultimately scrapped everything and went for the opposite: light, which is the main theme of Prism

The only way they do is the only way any of her songs sound the same: her singing style. She doesn’t really change that song to song or her delivery so what you often wind up with is productions that might sound a little different but then song’s that sound somewhat similar basically on an aesthetic level alone.

Like between the other girls of her era (Gaga, Beyoncé, Britney), there’s at least a hair of difference album to album in how THEY sound. With Katy I think one of the boys is maybe the only one where her approach to the vocals are a bit different. I don’t really mind, she has an INSANELY distinctive sound but I think it can render her music a little homogenous if you aren’t giving it too much time
