If we go by numbers, Beyoncé has outsold Rihanna in terms of albums. Why?

Lemonade sold more than Anti, BEYONCE sold more than Talk That Talk and Unapologetic, Sasha Fierce sold more than Rated R and Dangerously in Love sold more than GGGB and Loud. Yes, Rihanna had more hits but she also did the most pure radio pop of any pop girl of the 2000s and 2010s. Rihanna did a dance pop record and an urban pop one. Did pop songs with hugely successful rappers and was trend hopping. Beyoncé pretty much stayed in the same lane from 2010-17 and STILL outsold Rihanna in terms of albums. 

And numbers aren't impact. Queen is WAY more popular than Madonna yet sold less records. Queen is waaaaay more legendary than Madonna. Bob Dylan sold less than Justin Bieber but he's way more influential. Numbers don't always mean impact. 

actually according to chart masters queen has sold 30 million more overall records than madonna and they are def more respected. you can say this or that but the cold hard numbers show that rihanna has sold more than 100 million records overall than beyonce and she has more number ones....... i used to be a bey stan but even i could remember more of rihannas music since it was so insanely popular. bey has made more impact as a black icon, and shes def more talented but the cold hard truth is rihanna has sold more records so objectively she is ranked higher on the list of highest selling artists. even if certain albums of bey sold more than rihannas, rihannas music OVERALL has sold more copies - thats not something you can dispute.
