I know she definitely gives back to Barbados and other social causes. Not sure if I can post links but a quick google search would pull up a lot of results. I think she's doing a lot of good behind the scenes!

No amount of “charity” and “behind the scenes” work aka donations to amorphous orgs with questionable practices and leadership in order to get tax write offs will change the fact that Barbados has experienced an increase in its poverty rate in the past decade and is one of the nations projected to be most impacted by climate change, as it is an island nation. Celebs and their sycophants, Gaga included, hide behind surface level activism and the meaningless work of the nonprofit industrial complex in order to avoid the fact that their wealth should be redistributed to materially solve the issues they allegedly care about.

Honestly it’s insane. Although I understand that it’s more with the valuation and it can be erased tomorrow, the mere fact that income inequality is so bad is disgusting.

I understand people criticizing this list, but what does it actually mean to be a billionaire? Does it mean having over a billion in credit/assets?

Or does it also count to be the owner of a billion dollar company like Rihanna is? Because if that's the case I don't see how it's unethical. You own the company but you don't just have a billion at your disposal because the company needs that money to keep going.

It includes everything. So it includes liquid assets (like actual money in a bank) and assets like homes and property, etc. It also includes the valuation of the company, but not necessarily the whole company. If the value of the company currently is 2 billion dollars and she has a 50% stake, then that adds 1 billion to her net worth. I doubt she built that company without lots of other investors who have a piece of the company. Also, the value of a company can fluctuate a lot. It could be worth way less if the company starts selling less.

HEARTSTOP

236 people profited so much with the pandemic situation that they became billionaires... now imagine how many people got under the poverty line for this to happen.

Behind every billionaire, there's a lot of underpaid people.

And for what? Selling a bunch of cheap and useless stuff for a hight price.

Yeah but Rihanna has also been way more safe in her music and concentrated on singles, while Beyoncé's last few albums have been very urban with zero single treatment. Beyoncé has the more impressive album sales per album and is regarded as one of the most talented performers in the history of pop music. Not to mention the GP holds her above Rihanna in terms of impact and that's also kinda legit considering even Rihanna was promoted as a second-tier Beyoncé.

Both super successful women but Rihanna hasn't "won" over Bey in anything other than being a billionaire. Beyoncé is still above her in music overall even though she's sold less records.
