Grammys viewership edges out last year’s record low

I'm pretty sure all tv ratings were down last year because of COVID. I think it's an even bigger deal that the Grammys didn't have the same bounce back the Oscars did. I do think the Grammys have been big on highlighting new talent (i.e. Billie, Olivia, Dua, Mega, Lil Nas X) the past couple years but frankly these fanbases are not the ones who'll boost up Nielsen ratings just based on how they calculate them. It's pretty inaccurate imo.

It’s really sad. I agree though, the Grammys need to up their game. Thank god Gaga was there but it was even a lowkey year for her. She always brings icon status and excitement. But where were Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jay Z, Kanye, Taylor, etc? Hip hop artists not attending en masse is also majorly taking away from the show (J cole, Tyler, Drake all should have been there) These are the people who are iconic enough to make more conversation and viewership! And they should have been there alongside Gaga. You cannot carry the show on new artists alone. It’s awesome seeing them but you need the biggest names in music there. And Trevor Noah has got to go. He is such a boring host omg why would they ever invite him back?! I can’t. 
 

That being said, I personally always enjoy watching it, and I’m sad to see the ratings aren’t good because I would genuinely be devastated if they ever got canceled. I started stanning Gaga from her award show performances, and look forward to them EVERY time.
 

I really hope award shows don’t go extinct but nothings guaranteed.
