Not like the politicians and such have much competition with their talking album or whatever.

It is not even second tier category as far as prestige goes.

I'm surprised that the commercial success of certain acts aren't enough to entitle them to Grammys because that's certainly happened for others. It's always been kinda sad that Katy has only been nominated for work that goes to #1 (the only exception is Hot n Cold) which suggests they only think she worthwhile to nominate when she makes major hits. Bjork always seemed like a prime contender for Grammys with her critical acclaim with every album, so that's an odd one, for sure. I'm still shook that Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are still Grammy-less and tend not to get nominated for anything in general because all their albums get scores of high 80's with critics, their last one was, for a short time, the best reviewed album on MetaCritic and yet it didn't score a single nomination. And my girl Lana is still gramophone-less after a decade in the business despite getting steadily better and better reviews and respect with every release including having her big breakthrough moment of being an AOTY nominee. I was appalled that her 2020 poetry collection (which was also released on audiobook) failed to pick up a spoken word nomination as this would have been a prime choice from all the usual politicians reading their autobiographies. I wonder if the Grammys have taken issue with her recently? Her last 2 albums failed to pick up any nominations whatsoever, strange considering how well NFR was received just before it...
