This is probably a PR move to make him look more humble about things. When celebs apologize it's like u can never know if it's genuine or not  However having suffered from frequent outbursts in the past when my emotions were saturated with strain and in poor mental health...  I do know a little something about reacting far too strongly to something and blowing it out of proportion to then feel embarrassed and ashamed once I calmed down and realized just how awful what I did was  I was never violent with any person but I used to break things, get bursts or road rage (dangerous) etc and believe me the guilt was real afterwards  I can't be sure but I have a feeling he may genuinely regret that action.
