No that's not how it works. Being a member means you can vote on nominees and winners, but you don't have to be a member to be nominated. Gaga was only invited to become a member after ASIB

Will choosing to resign from The Academy isn't that significant, but his apology is significant. 

He acknowledged that his actions were wrong, he acknowledged how his actions negatively effected others, and he's willing to accept accountability. What more can you ask of him?

As quick as our culture is to demand an apology, we aren't great at accepting them. We should work on that.

This is how I feel. I understand why he went after Chris, even though I think he handled it poorly. But I also feel like people (mostly yt) wildly overreacted about the incident. I also rolled my eyes a bit at the people going "he did nothing wrong" because yeah, he did mess up even if folks overreacted. Anyway, people need to learn to let sh*t go, people make mistakes, and move on. The fact that this is going on a week later...so ridiculous.

All and all, though, the publicists for the Academy and even Will's publicist handled this poorly. On Monday they should have had him make an apology, give him a 1 or 2 year suspension from the Academy, and let it rest. Dragging out like this is insane.

She was DEEP into Scientology and still is. Allegedly he's only dabbled, but she's the one into it and the one behind the Scientology school they used to fund. The journos who cover Scientology have talked about this before. And if they have an open marriage, fine, but I though it was kind of shitty how she publicly went with she wasn't getting what she needed...

One can acknowledge Black women are unfairly maligned and attacked and few people stand up for them and they face intense racism/sexism...and that Jada seems like she isn't very good for Will.
