Will Smith slaps reporter 2012

So I’ve seen this clip before and it has always bothered me. The journalist seems to be being polite and went in for a French kiss. Will then gets angry and confrontational and slaps him.
 

I doubt he wouldn’t reacted the same had it been a woman and the way he acts as if it outrageous that guys would kiss is a little insulting to the journalist I’m sure. 
 

Maybe you guys have alternative opinions, I’m interested to see what people think?

It wasn't a normal reporter. His name is Vitalii Sediuk and he's a prankster that messes with celebrities a lot. Look him up. Also it's very clear in the video that he was intentionally trying to kiss him on the lips to annoy him. I mean ffs just look at how he's kissing him lol

It's not a reporter, he was pretending to be one to prank him.

The point is that we don’t teach kids to behave this way in public, if the guy was trying to prank Will, Will has a choice on how to handle the situation. Would you tell your kids to slap someone if they were being pranked in this way, or maybe tell your kids to move out of the way instead?

 

the reporter SHOULD respect personal space, but Will can’t just slap people around without consequences.

Reminds me of when Jennifer Lawrence berated that reporter who was clearly trying their best in English (but wasn't good enough for her).
Honestly celebs are so corny. Will is so corny. This all looks immature and insecure, but yes let's try and justify violence so that his family can keep being pretentious.

Yes I feel that he comes across as insecure in his sexuality and regardless of whether it was a prankster or not it is unnecessary to slap him. 
 

Why is it accepted for men and women to French kiss but if it’s two men he is suddenly disrespecting his boundaries?

i wasn’t even triggered by this whole Will smith thing until jada started posting “healing” crap on instagram. Like - no boo, consequences need to occur, you can heal later in your personal space, but you can’t be high and mighty and “enlightened” when you’re perpetuating the situation.

That's way different. You don't just go and kiss someone like that, that's sexual harassment, and you have every right to defend yourself physically if it happens. With that said, the slap at the end felt unnecessary as Will had already managed to get out, it felt more like punishment than defense. But pushing him away violently like he did at first, that was totally justified.

Yeah I mean if he’s trying to kiss me and I don’t want to… yet he keeps on trying, he is getting slapped 👋

two different situations all together and tbh that prankster was creepy and annoying.

And I get that an unwarranted kiss is perhaps an invasion, but like... whatever happened to a good old-fashioned "No"? Or just shrugging it off / laughing it off?

This isn't Planet Earth where the lions attack hyenas for getting up in their business. 
I'm not trying to tell others how to respond, but... actually wait, yes I am.

Yeah, it's important to send the message: You need to respect people who try to force themselves onto you physically. Like do you hear yourselves?

For all the young girls out there, when a guy goes in to violate your space and sexually harass you, make sure to politely ask him to stop. It would be sending out the wrong message otherwise.

Look closely at the interaction. The reporter is really forcing it, and he's going for a second kiss when Will has already tried to push him away a first time.
