On TV, maybe yes. But on social media I have seen a massive amount of support for Will and criticism against Chris. But you're right to an extent. American talk shows and news channels are vilifying only Will. People aren't talking enough about how shitty and quite frankly dumb the joke was.

I kinda hate how everyone is talking about will or poor chris but no one is talking about how Jada felt about the insensitive joke, very disrespectful after Chris doing the Good Hair docu. 

what Will did was wrong but its done and the people involved decided to move on and we all should do the same. 

people are so overreacting about this because it was live but most remains silent over the me too movement and other things

Actions have consequences. I think it damages society to see a notorious celeb acting like that on live TV. We definitely should address it and we should make it clear, especially for young people, that violence is never a choice to cope with stressful situations. The fact that the audience legitimated what happened really shows which road our society is taking. I think Jim is right, our society is more tolerant of violence now than it used to be. We choose to be aggressive on social media, in traffic, at the supermarket, and now it is okay for the cultural elite to be violent in front of millions of people. I think it is a serious issue.

Quite frankly when I heard Tiffany’s explanation it made me mad. I have no clue why she’s thinks Chris’ joke was insinuating that Jada was a “homosexual”, and so what if he was (which he wasn’t). Tiffany is literally implying that being a “homosexual” is a bad thing or something to be embarrassed. Her usage of the term homosexual irks me as well because it’s antiquated and speaks to someone who is either misinformed or uncomfortable with the gay community.

It flew over your head. Her point is that it was a demeaning joke. It does not reflect her views.

I think Will Smith has clear mental health issues in all honesty. Any put together person would at most go up on stage and pull a Kanye if something bothered you that much - you must be in a really bad place to hit someone (and not in response to a physical attack on yourself) and more so in a professional setting in during a live telecast. And to go to an after party shamelessly like that, it's just not right (doesn't matter you won the Oscar). Chris Rock isn't getting enough credit for keeping it together after the incident.

And to those who are saying his joke was sick, I really don't think he knew of her medical condition. And even if he did, agree it's a terrible joke and in poor taste but he did not deserve a slap. A telling off on stage by Will Smith would have been far more effective in making him learn a lesson. A slap in public is not proportionate as a response to a comedian making an inappropriate joke.

I am also shocked that more people in Hollywood aren't coming forward to support Chris Rock and speak against Will Smith. I also can't believe people were high fiving and dancing with him after, absolutely disgusting.
