The joke was that she called an Oscar nominated movie star "a seat filler," which implies she's so daft she doesn't even know who Kirsten Dunst is. The joke is predicated on Kirsten's fame and success. I don't get how that's dismissing her career. It's only because of her career that it's a joke. I don't think it was a funny bit. But people are fully ridiculous for acting like Amy Schumer seriously insulted her.

Soon, thanks to the twitter brigade and its constant policing, it won't be possible to joke about anything. Kirsten was clearly in on the joke.

People on twitter really need to stop getting offended on behalf of others. Twitter is a complete cesspit...

Okay I don't like Amy Schumer, but those kinds of staged jokes are good comic relief at awards shows   I didn't see the problem when I was watching it. To me the whole joke was the irony behind Amy calling someone as incredibly well known as Kirsten Dunst a 'seat filler', because we ALL know who she is, and she was nominated for awards that night for a super popular film that everyone is talking about

I guess it was kind of an 'on the fence' joke

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Ew, people are weird. Folks were just feeling themselves because of the 'critical thinking' the Will Smith slap induced.

:smh: maybe if the oscars didn't cut a bunch of awards out, they'd have a lot less backlash to worry about

this is an award show, not a giant SNL skit

mother, what must i do?

They should just stop having comedians at these types of award shows. Stop cutting awards from the telecast. Just present the statues, have a couple of musical performances and call it a night.

The joke has the potential to be funny but Amy’s delivery, like many of her jokes, is so poor that it doesn’t land.  She literally has no comic timing or rapport with the audience, it’s like watching someone flail to get their script out :saladga:

If I were a comedian, I would just quit. People reach as hard as they can to be offended these days.
