Guest Posted March 28, 2022 Share Posted March 28, 2022 You gotta understand celebrities act as tokens that represent society as icons and images in the media, so when you are this famous you have this responsibility to not promote certain things, although we all make mistake the biggest problem was that Will did not apologize publicly to Chris Rock. And although Chris made a joke that was in poor taste he should not be slapped around like this in public, and maybe this would be no big deal at a High School show, but this was at the Oscar. It is much bigger, more impactful than anything ever in our culture. So saying it's no big deal, well I agree it's stupid but because of the huge stage these people are on, it becomes a conversation, which mainly asks, should humorists be censored? The answer to me will always be no, and so Will has this responsibility now to apologize and show support to comedians. He could have been laughing to keep it moving and not make anything of it so that Chris would just move on. He may not have realized it would hit Jada so hard. Who knows and why does it matter? But i agree with the “act part” : laughing then going on stage then barking then crying (ft Bradley) ..he sure does deserves that Oscar.
