Yeah, it´s funny how he is just "representing the black comunity" when he is defending their rights by  acting as Richard Williams in an Oscar nominated movie... But when he is violent with another member of the comunity he is simply "protective of his family" :triggered:

What does that have to do with anything? Thinly veiled racism :wtf:

What do you mean? Both Will & Jada’s whole stance on awards bodies in Hollywood is about their lack of inclusivity and equality. This incident isn’t directly related to it, but let’s not pretend that conversation & the media aren’t going to go after that angle. It always gets ‘political’ unfortunately. Look at Twitter.. it started the moment the incident happened.

You're right, they were consistently (and some repeatedly) assaulted sexually behind the scenes and the powers that be still saw it fit to hand out Oscars left and right. I think Will is okay.

You guys really like to whine about everything, don’t you? The Academy does nothing, you complain. The Academy does something, you complain.

I don't think I'm the one whining. I'm simply reminding you of the double standards, and I hope you're not comparing a slap to continuous sexual abuse.

Just to be clear, the people who are saying that Will should have his Oscar revoked aren’t saying that sexual abusers should get to keep theirs.

Of course they should have theirs revoked too, but there is nothing we as the public can do about it and right now the focus is on Will’s incident and what the consequences should be.

Also.. him & his wife have been so vocal about the Academy’s & entertainment industry in general being ‘so white’ in the past… & this is how he chooses to represent his values on a global stage?

You seem to forget the very White entertainment industry is overflowing with very White criminals that sexually abuse, rape and traffic people. The very White industry that Will Smith is calling out has zero room to talk or judge someone when it comes to class, decorum and basic human decency. Just because most of the sh-t happens behind the scenes does not mean it didn't happen.

Also, very White standards are not the ones every other person (of any race) has to follow. You could have simply called out Will Smith for physically assaulting another man unprovoked, like I did, but you had no right to bring race into it (if you are not Black). How extremely misguided it is for you to use this incident to bring racial inequality and microaggressions into the conversation. Consider the weight of certain topics before sharing an opinion the way you did.

It is those racist stereotype about POC being aggressive, so he just saying this point, that it is not a good look for him to lose himself like that when Oscars just started to welcome more diversity. It is the one step forward two step back kinda thing, I guess?

No, just...no. That in itself is White supremacy - the idea that White people can commit a myriad of crimes and be judged individually while one Black person slaps another and suddenly it's a conversation about race and diversity. Do you even see how problematic that is?

Huh? What does this have to do with race in any way? Can't he call out racism while still being mad at his wife being insulted? Or does he have to be a pristine image of a black person for the whites (who have been throughout history violent as f*ck btw) to accept him and his race? Literally what are you trying to say here? We really need to stop policing black people's behavior and acting like anything and everything they do is a reflection of 'black values' and judge whether they deserve representation and rights based on that. And this is not only directed at this reply but at this entire narrative circulating online right now.

I am not one that polices anyones behavior, I can only comment on it - I personally don’t understand what would possess him to disrespect the Academy in the way he did yesterday when he has spent years calling for bodies like the Academy to embrace/respect him & his contemporaries (& rightfully so). He’s aware of the current discourse in Hollywood & how far/wide it has travelled because he has been so significant/spot on in articulating it - this incident should have nothing to do with race, & at its core it doesn’t, but you only need to browse through social media to see that people & our media have already made it so. I’m certain Smith, given his status and influence, isn’t surprised by any of it either.

If my words came across as me policing or judging black peoples every move in relation their deserved respect & rights, then I totally apologize & regret writing them because that’s definitely not the angle I was going for.

I don’t forget anything in relation to White Hollywood’s atrocious history thank you very much. It’s an awful stain that’ll never be removed.

I don’t view yesterdays incident as one of race - my way of wording my initial thoughts after watching the incident was incorrect and not telling of my perspective of it. Apologies if I caused offense to anyone on here, including yourself.

I don't think his Oscar should be revoked, cause he must have worked too hard for it to be taken away from him after a moment of insanity, however I think he should be banned from attending the next ceremonies for a while or permanently.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

Also, they must enhance stage security, like, how the **** did Will get on the stage and slap the goddamn host without being stopped by anyone like it was nothing? What's gonna stop someone from shooting a host or guest on stage someday?
